Knowing Coach Chot Preference, he will probably choose JC over Ange. But let's say NP for a moment.

I think these players will be in the pool:

PBA: Newsome, Malonzo, Junmar, Japeth, Troy, Pogoy, Erram, Alas, Oftana, Perez, Bolick, Wright

Non Pba: Kai, AJ, Dwight, Tamayo, Baltazar, Kiefer, Thirdy, Navarro, Heading, Parks

    NP: JC or Ange

It looks even in possible composition. But high chance pba will have 5-7 players in the Final 12.

PS: I dont think Coach Chot will gamble on younsters like Lopez or Caelum.

PSS:Probably missing some names. But you get the point
Offense-oriented lineup, most likely. I only hope that defense is part of the game plan, because for the past few years, that's been Chot's (and SBP's) Waterloo.

I still have memories of that Indonesia game. God, no defensive substitutions (sub out either Troy, Mo, Pogoy for Navarro, Tungcab, Lopez), not many defensive adjustments while the Indos were burning us from 3. Too much focus on firepower.

    • I remember years ago referring to our projected 2023 batch composed of Kai, Edu, Kiefer, etc... as the "GGG" Gilas Golden Generation. We were so hopeful then and the future looked promising. Haaays....

Oh yes, Kobe the GGG goat.

It's unbelievable how things have turned out for the worst probabilities:

Kobe - maturity issues during his D1 stint
          Edu - injuries
          Kai - "handler" problems
          Kiefer - energy drink saga

I think guys like Kirkness were even discussed in that GGG. It's like none of them caught a lucky break.

On the flip side , who are the players that suprise and exceeded expectations?
            Let me try...
            Dwight
            Heading
            SJ
            Baltazar
Tamayo (ok this was somewhat expected)
Tuffin (yeah if only he played for Gilas)
            Quimbao

Remember some of them were in the 23 for 23 list , but were less heralded .

Goes to show , what matters isn't how highly rated you are coming out of high school, but how hard you work towards developing further (hint hint to u my friend , all the best on the young man's future)

Yes, fortunately we also have some who surprised our expectations.

The saying truly rings true...it's not how you start, it's about how you finish

                • Kobe also had colorful super-fans like Anonymous123. Peezones is tame compared to Anonymous123, the admiration went well beyond basketball.

                            Coach: Tim Cone
                            Assts: Jhong, Chot, Black, Nenad

                            Starters:

                            Bolick
                            Dwight
                            Clarkson (yes as naturalized)
                            Kai
                            Japeth

                            Bench:

                            Thompson
                            Perez
                            JMF
                            Tamayo
                            Oftana
                            Malonzo
                            Navarro
Kiefer (he's good as a pass first PG)

Also I'm curious why people here will still prefer a big man like maybe Ange Koaume as a NP than a player with Clarkson's caliber. If the only way to field him is as a NP then so be it.
JC ain't known for defense, and our past teams post-2016 save for the June-August 2021 team have been an abject mess on defense. Losing Pingris and Gabe, our two defensive anchors, hurt a lot, and we haven't replaced them in terms of impact.

For me to consider JC, either need a defensive anchor or a number of defenders to protect him, as well as a good defensive system.

It's just me, I'm a defense-oriented fan. And I don't wanna see our team hemmorhaging too many points like the SoKor 2017 and Japan 2022 games.

THATS about right to make SBP comeback to their senses...Masyado na malakas tinginnng SBP sa sarili nila..

I think Chot will be a sacriicial lamb....No way is he going to get it easy in the Senate inquiry as he will be facing Marcos/Duterte minions..Chot being a Leni supoorter will be chop to minch...Ano ba naman to si Chot, if he is really a Leni supporter, he should uave embodied the ideals being espoused by her, of Accountability, Transparency and taking responsibility of his action...Mas malala pa sa trapo ang galawan ni Chot...
