The Kraken nickname was first mentioned here.

Also, a US NCAA player with a rather filipino sounding name Ronnie Aguilar made the rounds here. Somebody from the higher ups got hold of it, and took it seriously. Not verifying if he is indeed Filipino. Spoiler alert, he's not.

Dami pa tsismis: Like the Lopez Twins , want to play DAW for PHL. ..and former import Adam Parada having a son with a local model. and i guess he's gown up now if true.
There is a FB group chat were most are active..
I guess I'm one of the crazy guys who still remains in IBN.
I can't seem to promise to leave forever LOL, even if I should, really , as I've said enough and I'm resigned to the future of Philippine basketball as being bad for the next decade

heck I also remember a number of posters claiming that the ABL will eventually phase out the PBA
I believe JF got the nickname Kraken because UC wont release him to Gilas program of Rajko. Thats why the tag line was releasd the Kraken. Alot admire his game specially when he played very well against Ateneo, Bast iand SBC in PCBL.

JP Mercado was used to the resident guru here before, I thought he was Andy Jao or maybe a person who had inside track with the PBA.

Adding as well that before Stanley Pringle was our infatuation for a PG lead guard for Gilas.

We have a guy named Joey Deas, who was a combo guard just like Pringle. Sadly the guy did not pursue professional career ball.

Terrell Theophile, Cstand, Niko Monachini those were the days. I miss the old IBN, our go to thread was the filam ballers in the US.

I remember as well that there was a time that Mikey Williams and Stephen Holt were hold to a higher regard than Clarkson before, mga times na it was really good to imagine what our future squad will be. Now it's still a dumpster fire, smh

                  • I wasn’t that active then, actually even now. But I remember IBNrs where not that fond of an all amateur RP Team which then becomes Gilas 1.

                      • Comedy muna tayo. Came across Snow’s first 5 for 2023 WC:

                        Castro
                        Ramos
                        Clarkson
                        Blatche
                        Fajardo

Goes to show how in depth and up to date this guy’s basketball knowledge is.
Never look too far ahead. You might stumble on a block right in front of you.

yeah, that old fat Blatche and that slowmo joe Junemar will be eaten alive in defense.

also, Clarkson and Blatche cannot play at the same time.

lastly, Castro WAS good in 2013-2016. he is still good but NOT AS GOOD AS he was 6 years ago.

yeah, The Dean and Snow Badiday are the same bananas of different species.

I think the pba will composed majority of 2023 Gilas WC lineup.

Knowing Coach Chot Preference, he will probably choose JC over Ange. But let's say NP for a moment.

I think these players will be in the pool:

PBA: Newsome, Malonzo, Junmar, Japeth, Troy, Pogoy, Erram, Alas, Oftana, Perez, Bolick, Wright

Non Pba: Kai, AJ, Dwight, Tamayo, Baltazar, Kiefer, Thirdy, Navarro, Heading, Parks

                            NP: JC or Ange

It looks even in possible composition. But high chance pba will have 5-7 players in the Final 12.

PS: I dont think Coach Chot will gamble on younsters like Lopez or Caelum.

PSS:Probably missing some names. But you get the point

Fajardo is good to be back-up center at world level stage.
Reason being is the age and having trouble playing against bigger players.

Ohh, those were the days, when IBNers had more information about certain overseas Filipino hoopsters. I honestly believed some of the scouts and agents visited this forum to know what's up. Guys like Scuba Holt, Brian Organ, Niko Monachini were favorites back then..and also, this forum is where i found out about the pervy master beaters Jack-Cool brothers CStand and Pringle
