With Clarkson kasi, we are already assured of some 25+ pts from him in every game. But basketball is an offensive & defensive game. In fact in very high level competition like the World Cup, defense is more important than offense. It is defense that separates quality teams from below par ones.
I dont know how this will work....our 2 main guys (Clarkson and Kai) will not be available to practise with the rest ogf Gilas....so basically, we are following a hugot system again......the rest of the team (I assume PBA players will be practising for 3 months, maybe playing in mini tourneys, but again, without the 2 main guys.......This is really following the PBA playbook....i.e. bahala na ang import....any coach will do because the import rules.

        That’s against NBA players.

FIBA Asia level players will be different.

If Kai stays in the NBL he should be available somewhere between April-May. If Clarkson stays with the Jazz he should he be available around the same time even with a few weeks of vacation.

Well, Silent Killer is obviously referring to next year's FIBA World Cup which level of competition is within NBA level.

True. Many international players treat the world cup with importance since they think Team USA will half ass it like always.

My fearless prediction is Jalen Green will make the Team USA 2023 with Cade, Mobley and Scottie.

Feminazis are the ultimate downers in any happy occasion. They should be lobotomized.

Actually, China has been doing what we are jokingly suggesting. They force their athletes to marry each other to produce the next generation of athletic specimens (Yao Ming). We can do that without the coercion. Just place team USA in Balesin with all our national volleyball pool members and give them lots of alcohol and nature will do the rest. hahaha

In 20 years we have super athletes, ready for Asian domination. Biology for the win.

And Yao Ming is married to another basketball player, too bad they only got 1 child (as mandated by law), hope that girl turns out to be a great athlete as well. With the libido of these athletes in their primes at a high, expect a number of World Cup babies to be produced next year, there's a reason why the olympic village is notorious for orgies. Plus nba players are notorious for fathering illegitimate children throughout their careers

Again and again, our best performances came when we defended well. Offense was always there (yes, even with Chot), but defense was a big factor on us going far in tournaments, mostly in Asia.

So here are our defensive ratings in FIBA Asia tournaments:

                    2013 (silver): 98.3
                    2015 (silver): 89.1
                    2017 (7th): 113.4
                    2022 (9th): 114.1

It bears noting that 2017 and 2022 didn't have enough defensive personnel. So we have to focus on finding as manybdefensive personnel as possible to help on defense. Also, we need a defensive coordinator, which is supposedly Nenad, who can drill the players on how to make stops.

                      malonzo

one of this players will probably get cut.. so 4 players from PBA and 8 from foreign leagues and collegiate

no way scottie thompson’s game will translate to FIBA type of game..

still hoping that ange will get a nod as local and kabayan clarkson as NP..
Pretty much the only useful PBA players under 30 by 2023 (save for Abai), so far.

Is there really chance (or pathway) that ange would be classified as local. Is sbp working ange to be local? That’s another question.
I remembered, one poster said via quinito, that sbp is working out with fiba to let mikey, and other ineligible players to play in fiba as locals.

Quinito mentioned Mikey and Newsome: https://twitter.com/TheDeanQuinito/s...Dke1GjGK5lleyA

Problem is, Mikey will be 31, and Newsome will be 33, come the WC. Are SBP sure that they want to have exemptions for players that can play for ONE WC cycle AT BEST?

The SBP and stop-gap solutions. Name a better duo.

IBners are saying we will not watch the World Cup live anymore. most likely the socmed Pnoise is of the same mind. this needs to be PR'd by SBP. and stop-gap to market the event should be PR blasted. tickets have to be sold. sound developmental plan until next World Cup 2027 be damned.

I do plan to buy tickets for the R16 up to the Finals.

Gilas matches? Depends which group they’re at but I prefer not to buy any tickets.

The SBP has done a disservice. They deserve every backlash they can get.
