League, maybe in EASL (each franchise can sign up any number of Asian player as long as he is Asian).
Im guessing so far it isnt but the EASL could be a game changer.

    • Suddenly remembered, this is a qualification route to the Olympics. Given these circumstances, making the Olympics outright is an uphill battle, especially if Chot is the coach, too many of the players are unqualified, and Chot screws up rotations.

Forgive me for being scared, because we got one shot at this. If we screw it up, we might not get another chance this decade, especially under the wrong leadership.

The qualification for the Olympics is very flawed anyway since there are teams (Asian and African lol) that doesn't really belong to the competition. Last year Iran made the Olympics over teams like Serbia/Lithuania/Greece & etc. That's why i prefer the WC, too bad the top team (USA) doesn't take it seriously.

if Olympics were based on two strongest best performing teams (based on WC) in Asia Pacific region, since 2000 , it would have always been Australia and New Zealand . that is just reality

well, if the qualification for the Olympics would be based on world rankings/FIBA Worlds performance, No Asian team will ever qualify..Though it is sad, it seems that Asia and Africa are just token representations

they (China) actually didn't perform or place better than New Zealand in 2002 and Australia in 2006 world cup . again I'm saying if the world cup prior the Olympics was used to determine the 2 Olympic spots (like format now) based on the 2 highest placing teams in the World cup (prior) . both Australia and NZ would be the Asia Pacific representatives from 2000 to 2021 Olympics.

Of course were not talking about qualifying automatically as host

Atleast in the 2006 WC all of CN, NZ and OZ placed 9th and ended up with the same record

They are better performing team than Japan (Who is super overrating here in IBN) and Nigeria (they flop after big wins at pre season matches)....
Still not competitive enough, imagine if they were replaced by Serbia w/ MVP Jokic? or Giannis? The Olympics will be much more competitive

yes , but if you actually watched the competitiveness of the 3 teams, you did not get a sense that China was strong (it's evident in the margin of loses) , BTW a little trivia and Tab and the Tall Blacks will attest to this. the teams says that the 2004 and 2006 NZ team was actually better despite the results being worst than the 2002 team.. Which actually I agree if you looked at the tune-up game in 2004 to 2006 the Tall Blacks looked like a top 8 team.. and better than the 2002 miracle 4th place team
