Jong knows how to shuffle his players well and is not prone to getting technicals from FIBA refs unlike Chot.
    In your opinion,

Coach Jong is a better coach than Coach Chot?

    or

you just think Coach Jong is better in International coaching setting?

    • I prefer Jong. When Chot loses, he loses embarrassingly. I do not recall an international game where Jong was manhandled as a coach. He loses but not the way Chot loses like the New Zealand and Chot's last South Korea game.

I guess Jong’s adjustment is not “hit somebody!” Haha

        • well, Jong doesn't have to tell his players to hit someone. He had Dennis Espino. Ask Japan's Takehiko Orimo's. hehehe

Hahaha. My memory is fuzzy but did he hit someone during the brawl or was he trying to restrain someone?

Can't really do much about Pogoy and Troy. They're Chot's Matt and Mike.

Oftana should have at least be considered.

No man. In the timeout huddle I remember Chot literally instructed his players to hit somebody. Which is a hockey term, I guess?

As for Jong, yes he was seen hitting someone bot restraining hahaha.

                • What coach jong lacks in the past (and even now) is a consistent system.

In Interviews, he always admits he is not a triangle, motion, run and gun, or any system type of coach. he always said he has no system.

He based his newly created simple system fit to the players he have. It was obvious in the pba teams he coached:

SMB - Post Offense dependent on Danny S and Danny I

Ginebra - Run and Gun with Caguioa and Jayjay

Talk N Text - They were more of a 3pt shooting team

That is nice for pba, but not much in Fiba.

But if he will just apply Coach tab's formula, and combined it with his ability to use the strengths of his players in the best situations.

yeah, maybe he should have been the better replacement.

He was sick though last year

                  • Yes he had a heart attack so head coaching might be out of the question for him

It has been more than a month already. Tab has not spoken on his side of the story yet.
He's still in PH. Once he leaves, maybe his side will finally be revealed

                          So he’ll leave Ateneo too?

I know Thirdy have better length and athleticism.

But is he good enough to play like PG? I feel his skillset is SF too. He is not like his Kuya Kiefer in terms of handling and playmaking

What is even Thirdy's real Height, Is that 6'3 Height measurement by b league accurate?

Having said that, For me thirdy should be in the pool based on his performance on fiba windows he joined
6'2-6'3 is still decent size for a SG in FIBA. Thirdy's slashing and defensive abilities qualify him to be a shooting guard. Many of SG's of his size play in FIBA effectively. Many of them come from Latin Americas.

My problem with Thirdy as SG is his outside shooting. Yes he shot well against NZ but isn't that a bit lucky for him? Has his 3FG% improved in San En?

This is what I heard from someone who's active in our alumni sports affairs. Tab just came back from the US to attend his brother's wake. One day, he and MVP had a meeting to discuss, among other things, Gilas's preparation for the World Cup Qualifiers. Tab, probably still exhausted from what he went through both personally and professionally, told MVP he'd rather sit this one out and just coach Ateneo. He reasoned that the Philippines, being one of the major hosts of the 2023 WC, had already qualified anyway. MVP accepted his reasoning and all was well between them. However, sometime later, when MVP casually mentioned this to some officials of the SBP (who I won't name but it's easy to guess who they are anyway), they went ballistic. These people questioned Tab's commitment to the Gilas Program and everything went downhill after that. Harsh words were probably exchanged and feelings were hurt and in the end Tab got the boot even though he and MVP already had a gentleman's understanding on the matter. Coach Chot, who had nothing to do with this, was made a last-minute replacement.

This is an example of something that was supposed to be nothing ending up becoming horrifyingly something else all because some people chose, rightfully so or not, to make a mountain out of a molehill.
