    Final 12:

    Guards

    Pogoy
    Romeo
    Bolick
    Kiefer
    Dwight
    Clarkson
    Thirdy

    Forwards
    Aguilar
    Troy

    Bigs
    Kai
    Edu
    Fajardo

He will opt for more guards since it is his system.
Great, another lineup short on good-sized wings. After Dwight and JC, not much else. I hope that that will not be the case. Oftana has the potential to be a good fit. Try him in lieu of Pogoy, or maybe Terrence.

With that lineup, I'm positive only about the guards and the bigs (including Japeth). As for Troy and the wings, well, ayun. This is expecting the worst.

I think Chot should take them, given that they're pretty much our best options at PF, and both can play SF for stretches.

I think there, Stevy was just assuming the worst-case scenario in terms of lineup.

SBP and FIBA milking the hell out of the Team Pass..(i assume that the price is for all the preliminary/group stage games of Gilas)

Not sure who is going to fork out 52,999php to watch Gilas get spanked by 60pts to Slovenia lol.
SBP officials (though they might be in a different category)? Hahahahahaha.

Which is why he's calling for the PBA and I think the collegiate leagues to synchronize with the FIBA calendar, ao that the collegiate players would be available.

I hope the two are available for the WC. Baltazar, more probable, as he'd already graduated by then. It's Tamayo we should look out for.

I dont think so. What do you mean contender?

They have a chance to finish in podium in World Cup?

As much as improvement they got, and the impressive upset they won against Aus Team C.

I dont think they will beat the top european teams and team usa (if they send team a players)

also Japan's approach is to get an NP playing in their own B.League, instead of going the assassin route (ala Blatche). they are using Luke Evans now (who plays in B2), an undersized mobile system big but can play outside/inside. let's see if that sticks or they go the assassin route.
I have this weird feeling that we'll once again go that route especially when the PBA backed Gilas screws up the succeeding windows, do we have anyone in the pipeline in the level of 2014 Andray? , McCullough, Brownlee, Terence Jones obviously not on that level. I also assume that SBP will put all their eggs on getting that FIBA exception for Clarkson

Well, Chot's DDO system isn't really effective without the hero ball factor.

People back in 2014 said small ball was effective. NO.

Castro, Alapag, and Blatche were effective. Not the system.

Yeah them w/ Ping and RDO in the front lines for defense. That 2014 team had a good ensemble of role players that were also smart.

The ironic thing Chot never realized, is that point center is what opened up the defense as Blatche took out the rim protector. It was groundbreaking stuff that giannis/ jokic now does.

Small-ball is effective if you have the talent and/or versatility of say, last year's Bucks or Nets, the GSW dynasty, and the Big 3 Heat. Otherwise, it's just a fad.

A lineup of Kiefer-Thirdy-Dwight-Oftana-Baltazar is a better small-ball lineup than Castro-Alapag-Chan-Ping-Blatche because of the versatility. There could be better comparisons, though, but that's just an illustration of what I call proper small-ball.

Actual small ball, guys who play big and can defend.

The problem here really is that small ball has been misinterpreted here in the Philippines as just being smaller and quicker, without a change in skillset from the 4 (for instance, being still an undersized traditional big instead of a wing) and/or the 5 (for example, unable to play 4), and/or without giving regard to the versatility factor.
