Haha I support Barcelona in Liga Endesa. TIL Barça is the Catalan version.
Is the pronunciation of Baloncesto in Spanish the same though?
Almost. Depends on the Spanish. In European Spanish, you pronounce 'c' before 'e' or 'i' like theta. In Latin America or southern Spain, you pronounce it like s.
Good interview. I had a detailed analysis but my post hung up. A recommended viewing.
He said some good things and handled the interview well like always, but this time around we should assume it was lip service. After all, actions speak louder than words. He should put his money where his mouth is. We will see in the next competition/window if he embraces change (doubt it).

He said a lot of good things. Let's see with the formation of the SEA games pool.
Power and Play (Coach Chot's part in 1:05:45 - 1:33:07)
Very curious quote from CCR:
"When they appointed me, there was absolutely nothing. There was no team, there was no program. There were, what, 5 players, 6 players left on the team. Made-default nga tayo e kasi one week na lang, submission of line-up na. And then we had, the Philippines had no line up and no team when they appointed me on Feb 1."
Curious what was the supposed plan of CTB and SBP for the Feb window prior to CCR getting into the picture.
For the SEA games I expect the Gilas 2019 cadets to be in the pool. Those guys would ensure any Tab play Chot uses will be executed to the letter.
Apparently college students wont be available. I hope they go high school plus pros. Ideally all high school plus talent that arent playing /graduated but can you build a decent team on that alone?
For the 2023 World cup the attention and expectations of a good performance from the host is JAPAN. They are the face as host of this world cup. RUI and Watanabe are the lead stars pf the 2023 world cup.
Ironically the supporting stars from the Philippines are Japanese league players . DWIGHT. THIRDY . Kiefer
Yup JAPAN litterarally stole the limelight from the Philippines for the 2023 World cup both litterarally (players) and figuratively. (They are getting all the attention).
At least from an Asian perspective that's something to look forward to the country of the rising sun .
I'm excited to watch games and visit Japan in 2023 !

Philippines still the Main host though. With Indonesia not sure of qualifying.
How will they even divide it.
But of I am not mistaken Quarter, Semis, and Finals will be played here in our country.
But I agree Japan Nba Players will have better spotlight.
Still hoping for a better perf from Gilas compared to 2019 WC.
We are still a host in this world cup. Wag sana mapahiya.
And like Robert Said, It is interesting to see how Kai and Aj(if healthy) will perform in their WC debuts

What can we do.While Japan was developing NBA talent by sending them to D1 schools we weren't other than Kobe but we all know what happened there. Lets see though, Its looks like the Olympics was rough for Rui, does he want back?
Yes, Japan might be the favorites to get the Asian ticket to the Olympics, But it is still depending on the draw, not just in Preliminary round, But even who will be the group in classification rounds (those who not make it to the 2nd round)... Last 2019 WC, China gets favorable draw in Prelim round, but they didn't see if they fail in Prelims and go to classification rounds, China unexpected facing tough road when they faced Nigeria in classification round.. While Iran gets a favorable draw in classification round when they only face lighter opponent in Angola and Philippines... The luck of Asian teams will be depend on draw up to classification rounds, Even Japan not sure if they can easily make it.. Expect that all Asian team will not make it to the 2nd round, And it will depend to the draw in classification round when Asian teams will fight for spot at Olympics... That's why i have still fate in Gilas.. Chot and SBP should sure that even they will lose, it will be not by huge margin, because quotient system will be determine after classification round.. Iran make it last time because they didn't lose to much against European and American teams... Remember Iran only lose to Spain by 9 pts and Puerto Rico by 3 pts.. That's huge when they go to classification round and they defeat Angola and Philippines by double digit leads... Gilas should follow what Iran footstep did and they will have a chance...
As a host China was given the privilege of selecting what group they want to compete in back in 2019, not sure if FIBA will implement it this upcoming WC since we have 2 (or 3 hosts, if by some miracle Indonesia qualifies)

Japan is a quality NP center away (even Kouame level) from being serious competitors, to compliment Rui, Yuta and baba
It's kinda sad, really, that we are now being upstaged while we are too busy playing politics which will set us back. Personal interests over the development of Philippine basketball in general. That's crap.

I wouldn't call it politics as much as its acting in self interest. Even Tab when he said with a straight face that the Philippines aka Ateneo is the best option for Kai Sotto's future. What we really need is a program and leadership with the long term interests of our prospects at heart.
But Japan is not good getting quality Naturalized player, as far as i know.. Although they have that money, but their NP that they pick is not a quality player that fit for their system... Last time Fazakas is not fit as NP last Olympics because he likes to score just like Rui and Yuta, but very poor in defense and rebounds..
Japan's NP was Gavin Edwards, a mobile bruising big, and championship member of Chiba Jets playing alongside Yuki Togashi last year. it was Edwards over Ryan Rossiter (a 3-pt shooting big but questionable defense). maybe coaching staff emphasize defense at the time.
also Japan's approach is to get an NP playing in their own B.League, instead of going the assassin route (ala Blatche). they are using Luke Evans now (who plays in B2), an undersized mobile system big but can play outside/inside. let's see if that sticks or they go the assassin route.
