I'm sure Al Dwairi is still better than Kai, but atleast the latter will lessen his production when he will be in the court... And we know Korea is slightly better than Jordan even both will go full force...

Originally posted by astigram04Yes, Chot has that stubbornness. He tend to insist on something like having a platoon of undersized guards. I hope that won't be the case. Heard he used DDO with TNT but has added some tweaks like the Spain PNR. But Tab is also stubborn in his own ways. Like sticking with players who aren't just vertically challenged but are also athletically challenged. Result? We got demolished by an athletic Dominican Republic after that fantastic near upset over Serbia

Just check and rewatched some 2014 and 2019 WC. Ofc, Dray was our Best Player.
But for locals it is:
2014: Alapag
2019: Perez, Bolick
That's why I like to reward Both Perez and Bolick to be in Gilas 2023 Lineup. I think they deserve anothe r stint.
I know they are pba players, and ibn generally hates pba. But Perez and Bolick along with Oftana are pba players who Imo are needed for WC. (Anyway with Coach Chot, I know they will be chosen)
That 30 players lineup will be mixed naman of pba, b league, t1 league, NBL NZ, NBL Aus, US NCAA, Collegiate.
I am really eager and excited to know who are in the 30 man pool.
Privacy pa daw kasi, because players and their respective teams may decline. Lol
In short, they do not want people/fans to know who are the players invited, but declined by the team or the player utself.

If guys like Chiu and Go can handle some minutes against teams in the Abdullah cup, why are they not in the pool? Why was Navarro decent with Tab but not with Chot? Because Chots system has noy been working for a long time. The last time it worked was only against Taiwan. If his core really is theTab Gilas team, why doesnt he use their plays? That system has been competitive against high level teams. It doesnt require advanced skills from your SF. Theoretically the more mobile guys like Oftana can play it. But of course the main guy would be Balti, previously a center. Thr PG position can even be played by an SG. All with the goal of being able to trot out a bigger defensive team. What do you expect defensively from a team with 6'4 Dwit as PF? Of course it will be strained. It doesnt have the length to cover the paint and recover the perimeter.
Now Tamayo and Balti could be as involved as RDO was back in the day, as they have a good 3-point shot and have some skill in the perimeter and the post. I might see some more future taller bigmen in a similar role to RDO, although not necessarily as combo forwards like Tamayo and Balti.
I'm kinda concerned about Chot's choice for the 3-spot, though. Will he adjust his style to fit bigger SFs like Oftana, Navarro, and Lebron, or will he instead opt to put Dwight, Thirdy, and the likes of Pogoy or Perez at that position?

In fact, we have Tamayo and Baltazar as combo forwards, and possibly Oftana and Navarro for this iteration of Gilas. The challenge is tweaking the system to maximize these guys. Chot has to learn to involve the 4 and the 5, and have tall 3s, even if they can't handle the ball.
