  • I like dwight's play. Nothing flamboyant, and all business. With good and young 345s now and in the horizon, only the guards need serious replacement.

Fiba nt 123s are almost always the best in the world per country. Why we are sending uaap/ pba quality only guards every year is insane.

"As good probably as ramos" MUST be the only selection pass-fail criterion for 123s. Sjs and rjs are entertaining, but not fiba material. I agree parks meets the criterion, but will have issues with an mvp financed nt.

Ateneo, up and la salle have several big guards who are mature 20+ guys. Tab should probably focus on them.

Tab likes mike nieto "vocalizations". He might as well try to convert him to pg, as he is unfit at 3 for a fiba nt. The de liaƱos and paras today have the size and skills for the nt -- but they are lost already.

Pba play culture simply has strayed too far and too long away from fiba nt styles.

Some correctly noted that its best player fajardo is not fiba nt ready, and its best pba coach cone uses ancient plays that can be easily destroyed by mere asian top nts.

Or to put it bluntly, pba plays have deteriorated to the point that these work only against pinoy player and team weaknesses.

You add a Jordan Clarkson & you have a solid & versatile rotation at the 1, 2 & 3 spots.

Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

      • De Liano brothers did not include a national team clause in their contracts for them to be permitted to play for a FIBA sanctioned tournament. How true??? Can somebody confirm this guys?

With Edu and Kai at the Frontline

          PG: DWIGHT RAMOS
          SG: RAYRAY PARKS
          SF: JORDAN CLARKSON
PF: AJ EDU (ANGE CAN BE A BACKUP IF EITHER OF HIM AND JC considered a local)
          C: KAI SOTTO

I feel this is the best starting lineup we can assemble in 2023. Talentwise, Heightwise, lengthwise.

But ofc, the chemistry wise too should be addressed

Juan's contract has a clause where he can go back to play for Gilas any time he's called up.

            • I thought Parks was regarded as a good defensive player in the ABL?

Another one of Snow Badidayā€™s rumor mongering. Dude is taking credit for ā€˜bombsā€™ when all heā€™s spilling are common knowledge to hoops insiders. Hoopjunkie, Charles Tiu et al have been saying the same things all along but they were not hungry for recognition. But of course Snowā€™s horde of fanatics still think heā€™s the man.
Never look too far ahead. You might stumble on a block right in front of you.

                  • Rayray is brittle. Dwight was injured but so far it has been an exception rather than the rule. Anytime Ray does something spectacular on the court he gets injured a few games after. The TNT PHX semis brought out the best in him. He carried the team. But he had nothing more left against Ginebra. After two games was declared officially injured. When he played for Tab he looked like larong takot. He wanted to play D or drive to the basket but was avoiding contact. Maybe Calvin would have been a better choice after all over Parks.

                      Gonna be Thirdy Ravena

                      • Thirdy will really be fine.

For as long as the sbp and coaches stick grimly to the pass-fail requirement for ALL GUARDS to be "equal or better than dwight's all-business skills/ playstyle and physicality presence", the national team will not go down humiliatingly as it did against DR ever again.

Walang minimum quality standards ang lintik na sbp na applied to the nt kaya mediocre madalas. Tangna.

The latest nt is the strangest pinoy nt: the quality of the biggies clearly exceed those of the tiny ones for the first time. I hope tab will very seriously address his blunder at the guards' position. It is true that disastrous injuries to the bigger and abler pool guards are beyond tab's control. But he did know that elite asia cup and oqt wars were scheduled: experimenting on tiny uaap/ pba only guards is inexcusable.

But you could see from his pained expressions that tab did recognize the enormity of his mistakes. I dont think that he will ever use pretentious "walang tsamba daw" or showboating tiny players ever again in fiba contests. Seryosong napahiya din si tab.

Repitan, "dwight or better" guards EXCLUSIVELY FOR FIBA NT GAMES.

We might get Juan, Thirdy, Kai and Tuffin for the FIBA-Asia Cup. Their inclusion could be a preview of our 2023 line-up - professionals but in the overseas not in the PBA.
I hope overseas professionals comprise at least the majority of the 2023 lineup, taking up 9-10 spots. Hopefully, we send enough of the amateurs abroad to make this thing possible.

I can see a minimum of 5 players in 2023 Gilas that is overseas based in terms of playing basketball.

                            Kai, AJ, Clarkson are locked.

                            Thirdy have high chance.

Also Balti if he goes there.

Then there are the likes of panopio amd delianos

Tab baldwin is good coach in wrong team.
I said this coz it’s hard for him to play with sport politics in ph.
I wouldn’t be surprised if mighty chot or another middleman (of smc/mvp) will be the gilas coach in wc2023.
Oh, God, please, no. However, if there is indeed a middleman, let's hope he's competent enough to prepare the squad offensively and defensively, especially the latter.

Would Topex Robinson be the one?
