August 21
Angola, L. 74-83
August 24
Egypt, W. 74-65
August 26
Dominican Republic, L. 79-86
SO FAR, our 2014 Gilas Team is the most successful Gilas Team. Because not only they have the best and most balanced Gilas Team, but also they have the most preperation.
And the Core is basically the same in each tuneup games.
For our 2023 WC team. Probable Hugots are JC, Kai and AJ.
But the others, I hope they will have the same amount (if not more) of preperations and tuneup games for WC.
2023 World Cup is becoming near very fast.

This is the matter most often missed completely. What tab needs are pba players who can play very high-level fiba systems games. Hoarding of as many pba trophies and awards per month is obviously not the way to do it to prepare fiba nts.
Top 25-30 fiba national teams are definitely superior in talents, size and athleticism to pba teams. So, hugot system will almost always fail.
Tab's best hope is therefore for pba players who can quickly adjust to his system and has better talents, size and deep-pressure response than 20 year olds. Offhand, i would say aguilar and perez are some of the very few pba players who can decently battle top 20 teams, BY PROVIDING LIKELY INSTANT IMPROVEMENTS to the present team. Not "potential" and other immaterial factors.
Unfortunately, tab will look very bad if he says who are the top pba players he wants. As in bulungan when buying and bulk selling fish, it should be the pba board who should formally volunteer their best 5-7 players who are the best fit for fiba top 20 wars.
Tab will also look bad if he says which 5-7 of his players should be replaced by pba players who are more appropriate for battling gifted national teams.Originally posted by astigram04My take is maybe 3 players from the PBA to fill up weaker spots. Then add Kai and Aj and the NP. I don't mean to say tho that the current pool already has the all the players to fill up the rest of the spots. I'd say my shoe ins will be Ramos, tamayo and maybe Baltazar. And I'm definitely cutting both Go and mike Nieto, tungcab probably too. Hopefully kouame will eventually be allowed to play as a local. Oh, and Belangel too, I don't think he's a world cup materialOriginally posted by anon9000 View PostThe only contribution the PBA needs to give is a go to scoring guard(s) and an experienced big. Perez and Jap is a good choice.
I agree about him being careful to say who the top players are as marketing is tied with " PBA Star " conversations.
However, he also agrees that the players should fit in Tab's system, and are able to pass on knowledge and experience.
The PBA has to cooperate by making all players available and ending or pausing the season at least 2 months (meaning 60 days) before the tournament proper. Tab might get more leverage if he makes at least the FIBA Asia quarters or even semis with an all-amateur team. Hopefully he does make it, not only for the good of the program, but to lessen the reliance on the PBA for talent if the league, teams, and players still refuse to cooperate.

There must be a physics explanation behind this. Lol

The pro vets don't necessarily have to come from PBA,
Clarkson, Thirdy and Kiefer (assuming not in PBA)
would suffice
BTW that is model (getting players from overseas leagues) that is more commonly used by good national teams.
Players playing overseas actually have more experience in FIBA level type of ball
