I think among the teams, those who have very good chances of coming out of podium finish are Australia, China, Iran (if Hadadi & Bahrami are playing), New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Philippines (of course its a bit biased) & perhaps Lebanon.

Assuming Kai and Edu were available and Clarkson gets exemption as a local and Kouame not yet come 2023, with the way Ron Harper Jr is performing right now who would you chose between Harper Jr. and Kouame as NP? Lets say SBP is considering Harper Jr as early as now and he is also willing to play for Gilas.Last edited by Wannabe; 12-09-2020, 06:21 AM.

Assuming Australia sends B team (No NBA players
If Japan Can beat Australia by Just having Hachimura.
Then we can win against Australia by just having Clarkson.
Jc is way better than Hachimura
Kai and Watanabe are debatable. But I go with Kai.
And obviously, as previous matchup says, our local players are better than japan local players

It's either we would played against Japan, Australia China/New Zealand/Iran in the semis.
i hate it when some labeled Gilas as asia's elite but they couldn't even beat Sokor and other middle east teams consistently lol.
Korea always lose to Iran. They are not elite asian team ?
Gilas or Philippines. I will not say we are a Top 3 Asian Team. But definitely we are elite in asia. Maybe ARGUABLY TOP 5.

Of course we have to protect our pride & reputation naman as among Asia's elite.
My take is for every window, SBP should borrrow only a token number of PBA players to reinforce the cadets. Say 2 or 3 PBA players lang hiramin natin in every window, the rest of players natin eh cadets na.

Even Julio Lamas Coached Japan Team lost to Gilas.
Yes, without Hachimura. But still. If they will have Hachimura, we will have JC in the ideal Scenario by analyzed
If Philippines have a Korean Curse.
Japan have a Philippine Course.
I think past Decade. We always beat them fair and square. We got their numbers.

It’s just that you’re looking at it on different approach.
Top 5? Lol
So that’s why they need to focus on getting the podium finish in fiba asia cup next year and top 5 would be reasonable.Last edited by mapuakid; 12-09-2020, 08:52 AM.sigpic

Anyway, I am confident Gilas will prove it to us.

Its a bit funny that we're talking about the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup not in its own thread but in the 2023 FIBA World Cup thread"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV
