  • If Sage is available, I’d rather have him as the 3rd Center, he’ll be young and it’ll be good team building for the future giving him some experience with Gilas. If he’s not then I’d go with Junmar since he can be a veteran presence, Japheth would probably be a little too old by then.

And as pointed out by one poster, japeth is very dependent on his athleticism, something which age becomes a big factor. And considering that rim protection is supposed to be his ticket? BTW, i should've checked the 2019 stats first but since 2014 is what i have now, this went unnoticed but it seems that when junmar isnt overly bulked up, he was more efficient on the D. Junmar averaged 0.8 steals, 0.6 blocks in 12.8 minutes per game. Japeth had zero steals and blocks the entire tournament.

Anyway, what do you think of the kai to kerby comparison?
Rim protection isn't about stats though. It doesn't even show in the stats and it's definitely not only about blocking shots although that's a big part of it.

      • A more meaningful discussion is who aside from Kai and AJ that either plays some 5 or 4 will get to play at least 15 minutes average., I'm convinced it's unlikely to be Junmar, so who ? Who's your projection.. obviously if we naturalize a 5 or 4 it will be him, but assuming we don't (as that too easy an answer ) who among are eligible players will be the 3rd big PF or center? that discussion has real bearing to our chances, not sino yung garbage minutes man or insurance big or cheerleader motivator

to me really if one of these inelgibles like Lucero , Philips etc(haven't really seen him) becomes eligible that will be huge and my vote for the 3rd big to get minutes aside from Kai and AJ.. it's also not totally impossible that a Lopez can vastly improved in 3 years to a level that we all of a sudden have an active body crashing the boards and contesting shots and defending the perimeter

Lopez needs to be atleast 6'8.

Tamayo maybe if he improve also.

I am not yet sold on baltazar but maybe him.

Honestly, I am not even looking at pba players in that position.

          • Lopez is 17 this year, will be 20 in 2023.
For FIBA that's actually not unusual to have a 20 Yr old in the senior national team

If he wants to be a true wing 2/3 he better leave the country now!

Hope so. Pero ayaw nga e.

He wants to finish and get his high school diploma first in ateneo.

I am not against that since I am a teacher myself. But I think he can study abroad naman

              • And be a 4/3 combo forward, trained in Ateneo, which isn't bad at all and fills a real need

I thought you want a 4/5 to alternate with Kai and AJ?

About 3/4 , Paras,Tamayo, Quiambao, Lopez will be in that.

About 2/3. Maybe Dwight, Dave, Parks and JC

Pwede naman. Coaches should not be stubborn. They should pattern schemes depending on the circumstance.

So in case, Korea berserk against us again with Junmar and Kai manning the 4 and 5 spots or we want to outrun our bigger opponents, eh we could go small ball with let's say Edu, LeBron, Dwight, Clarkson and Thirdy or let's say we go all forwards and guards with LeBron, Kobe, Dwight, Clarkson and Thirdy.

                    defend

The six-time MVP showed his progress from tibia surgery in his newest video on his Youtube channel AHOS gaming on Thursday, entitled “FINALLY!! Nakabalik na din sa court!”

“After eight long months nakabalik na din sa court. Slowly but surely lang,” Fajardo said. “Salamat sa lahat ng mga prayers nyo at suporta, naappreciate ko kayo ng husto!”

The 6-foot-10 Cebuano center took shots from seven perimeter spots – moving from left corner, wing, elbow, top of the key, to the right elbow, wing, and corner.

Moving away further, Fajardo did the same routine from beyond the arc as he flashed his three-point shooting accuracy.

looks like Kots Leo might allow Junmar to take his game from the perimeter a little bit more because of the injury

I saw some video clips of Greg and i think he is now mobile and faster.. We'll see in November how Greg plays.. If he manage to hang on vs Prosper & Ratliffe then the battle for 3rd center spot is very exciting between Junmar and Greg.. Remember FIBA and PBA games are in separate/different and if Greg fits in Tab/Dickel system then i will vote for Greg as our insurance big man until 2023.. Unlike Junmar, Greg has no superstar status.. He will accept the role being bench role and can be the "Kuya" for these young squad..
Teka muna...Greg is a SURE THING for the November window? Where did you get that news?

SBP will be the dumbest organization if they will not acquiring Greg for this window.. We need him now.. with only Go as only our available big in Gilas cadet.. Greg will be shoo-in..
Well I hope you can tell Tab that as he thinks otherwise...

No I meant a combo forward Ranidel type should form the ideal 4/5 rotation with Kai and AJ

And remember that Greg hooked up with that Serbian agent and reportedly trying his luck to land a job somewhere else aside from resigning again for Ginebra
