Advantage din sa kanila yung fiba style of play because their coaches were all born to that system.

    • If Philippines is really serious in 2023. They should start now. As in NOW. I think basketball will be alllowed within a few weeks or a month

All Gilas Players should be practicing now and having exgibhition game with other national team. Yes NATIONAL TEAM of other countries if possible. Walang mangyayari kung pba team lang ang katuneup.

Gilas players should be make themseleves available full time with gilas. Except for players outside philippines.(Kai,Sage, edu)

As much as I like Perez,Bolick,JMF to join our NT. I prefer not to pick them if they will be only release 10 DAYS, afain 10 Days before the tournament.

NCR still in gcq so still not allowed to start practice.. I'm bit worried because our plans beyond 2023 still delayed due to this pandemic.. other countries who are much more heavy casualty in this pandemic are already give go signal in their athletes to practice, or already start their professional leagues.. while us are still waiting.. what will happened in our gilas if the 2nd window this coming November is still resume and we are can't be able to prepare due to this decision of our government to hold our athletes.. while jeepneys, buses, restaurants, cinemas, tourism and gyms are now open even these ones are hard implementations of social distancing while training of our athletes are still not allowed? Why IATF? I'm more disappointed now in our government, as a pro-duterte eh I'm disappointed right now.. the AFC/world cup qualifiers for FIFA eh will start by October but still azkals players are not been allowed..
Panalo naman raw against UP , LOL

The problem in our country kasi is that the naturalization process here starts at age 21. No leeway here. If you are not black, it means you are white or vice versa (that's how i describe our citizenship/nationality laws here).

That's our independent problem, not FIBA that uses a universal one consistent rule and principle. Imagine if they had to adjust for each and every (200 different) country dependent on each and countires laws.

I think this is one of bills that this congress should prioritize (vis-a-vis ABS-CBN grant of new franchise and COVID-19 response).

                    Granting optional naturalization for:

                    - Foreign children born and raised here.
                    - Foreign children who continuously reside here.

Which FIFA already does. No need to imagine.

Lahat naman ata ng Presidente joke. Sino ba hindi? Unless people simply like to single out this Presidency. In which case, then ganun talaga. If we cannot look at our history with more maturity, honesty, and truthfullness then we will forever be mired in this cycle of hope and frustration.

Thing is we absolutely have to imagine it for FIBA, (this suggestion that blood (not citiizenship) is part of consideration for FIBA for elgibility including exception is actually immagination (not real)

TWO years after their infamous brawl, the Philippines and Australia will most likely face each other again next year when the Fiba Asia Cup is held.

The rematch could come in 2021 when the Fiba Asia Cup is played where the Philippines and Australia are expected to figure prominently in the tournament. The Philippines and Australia are not bracketed in the same group in the Fiba Asia Cup qualifiers, which means they will not be facing each other when the qualification process resumes after the COVID-19 pandemic.

That leaves the two possibly battling in the main competition in 2021 either in the group stage depending on the results of the draw, or even in the later stage of the competition when the battle for the crown intensifies.

All eyes, at least for both nations, could be on the rematch when that game is scheduled. Gilas Pilipinas and the Boomers have not squared off exactly two years since the full-scale brawl at the Philippine Arena erupted between the two teams after a forearm by Daniel Kickert over RR Pogoy started a bench-clearing incident.

The aftermath led to unprecedented sanctions with Chot Reyes being suspended for a game and fined 10,000 Swiss franc, and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas slapped with a 250,000 Swiss franc fine, and losing the right to host two home games with spectators.

Calvin Abueva was slapped with a six-game suspension, while Pogoy, Kickert, Carl Bryan Cruz, and Jio Jalalon were penalized with a five-game ban. Eight more players, six from the Philippines were also suspended.
The return match could come sometime between August 17 to 29, 2021, the new date of the Fiba Asia Cup after the Tokyo Olympics was moved to next year. Under the ongoing qualification process, the top two teams in each of the six groups will advance to the Fiba Asia Cup with Gilas and the Boomers expected to get two of the spots.

Sixteen nations will see action in the 2021 Fiba Asia Cup and they will be grouped into four. The top four teams take an outright quarterfinal spots, with the next two teams in each group fighting for the remaining four berths with their counterparts.

Being the reigning champions, Australia is expected to be a strong contender for the four outright quarterfinal spots, along with the likes of Iran, New Zealand and South Korea, the team that the Philippines lost to in the quarterfinals of the Fiba Asia Cup in 2017.
When that time comes that the Philippines and Australia collide, mark your calendars.

This is what really baffles me. FIBA is apishly trying to replicate FIFA’s success down to the regional cups, the home-and-away format, and renaming the World Championship as the World Cup. They even proposed to the IOC to make Olympic basketball an U-24 event like Olympic football. Why not adopt the same eligibility rules?
