Let's say South Korea's grassroots program as well as from the way players transition from one level to another is way way better than what we have here in the Phi., but I think SBP can copy such program anytime. Question is, how do we get the cooperation of the stakeholders (schools, PBA D-league & even the PBA) to make such program possible.?
In the recent FIBA-Asia Championship for instance, Korea paraded two 19-year old players & two 22-year old players. Most likely those young players are still in college or if not, they're still in the developmental league (like our PBA D-league). Yet they were allowed by their schools &/or developmental league teams to join the national team. Something which most likely will not happen in Phi. basketball. If ever, had Chot named Kiefer Ravena or Rayray Parks to Gilas-2, would Ateneo & NU allow them to play for the Philippine team knowing that the training & the actual competition would conflict the UAAP season?
