Correct .... but with the height of the mom, there's a big possibility the child would not be of basketball height. But the case could be different for Cornley if they do decide to have a baby as the mom is "big" heightwise for a Filipina. So lets also wish Chandler Parsons is good in courting as he is good in shooting.

In my research on Amerisians, because of genetics its more important that the mother is gifted height-wise than than the father is tall in order for the child to inherit the "tall" genes. Most of the time mas malakas dugo ng nanay.

    • So the 2 options available not using the 1 naturalisation per team rule are:
      1. Child Born in the Philippines (regardless if any of the parents where former citizens of another country e.g. child of Marcus)
      2. Child born of a former citizen of the Philippines. (regardless of where Child was born (e.g. Planet Mars)

If you ask me the 2nd one is more feasible. Sorry to bring this up, but it’s evident we were able to get a number of Fil-shams Philippine passport regardless if they had legitimate Filipino roots or not. Just saying.. especially for the near future (next 3 years) . Chances of finding someone in another country (with a Filipino sounding sir name) who you can pass for a person with a former Filipino parent are much greater than finding a child born in the Philippines 15 yrs ago or later with genes of a foreign parent and athletically gifted who loves the sport.

The problem is with Parsons' future mother-in-law, if you know what I mean. I just hope little Sonny Parsons would be a mean baller like his dad. Height-wise, he'll be fine. Malaking bulas ba naman si KC

            • nardy sorry i was confused..

how about a fil-am born in the US.. but in the philippines he is technically a natural born filipino by since his mother or father is a filipino at the time of birth in the US.. then that fil-am gets a passport (and of course citizenship) at the before or at the age of 16, is he OK as natural born in the eyes of FIBA? because it seemed to me that it is also important for the player to be born in the country of which he or she is representing.. again sorry for the confusion..

My understanding and I'm happy to be corrected for the former (Child born outside the Philippines of a filipino parent) the requirment is still to get a Filippino passport by 16.

But for the latter a Filipino born in the Phil from a Filipino parent, even if the child fails to get a philippine passprt by 16, he will still be eligible by virtue of being born in the phil of a former citizen of the phil

The way the Japanese did is that the Foreign player with both parents not Japanese but was born in Japan and before he gotten 16 was already a Japanese citizen and given a Japanese Passport. This FIBA allows.

But if a foreign child getting a citizenship after being born overseas then getting citizenship would not pass as a natural born even if he gotten citizenship before 16.

For example like you when you migrated to NZ then your child was born there, before turning 16 he is already a NZ citizen and has a NZ passport, if he gets chosen by Basketball NZ to play for the national team, he would be classified as a local NZ even if at the time of his birth you and your wife has not gotten your NZ citizenship yet.

Kidding aside .... one thing I almost did personally was to legally adopt a African child for humanitarian reasons. Remember this Thoots.

Your suggestion is acceptable if the mother gone here on her own free will and as per FIBA Internal Regulations she must not have migrated due to "basketball reasons". For example her main reason being here is being employed or studying but no connection with basketball.

                    • Kidding aside as well, one of the suspected areas where you can look at is from which countries do clinents of Filipino mail order prides come from ? , basically where are the biggest markets ? Additionally and I don’t mean to demean or endorse this practice, who are foreign clients of prostitution ? That’s where you will see a lot of children from mix race parents. Unforntnatlly African nations are not a big market for this

When you Allude to the practice of prostitution just to get ahead in basketball- it both endorses the practice and demeans the sport. I do not believe I am hearing this from you, my friend. You are far better than this. I will have to call you out on this one as it corrupts the very core of amateurism in sport. We want to get ahead in basketball but not at the cost of our moral values. I am taking the moral high road, I suggest you cease and desist this manner of thought. To Nardy, I hope that we have not gotten as far as endorsing this practice at home. If not, It will come down on us like a ton of bricks, I love the country but I love God more...

You know me Thoots .... I do not go for winning at all costs, thats why I am just stating the proper and legal ways to do it. Even if the process would make it a long time for us to achieve success then so be it. As I said it in the past kung talu e di talu basta lumaban tayu ng patas. Anyway I do not see SBP going that path.

I guess the males can laugh if you were kidding, right?

But since you're "kidding aside", then I'd consider this post both misogynistic and obnoxious.

Spelling isn't the worst part of this post. The message is.

My apologies , that did not come across well. The intent was not to suggest that we use prostitution or any practice to get ahead. but to identify where children from mix race parents come from. If you noticed Jason Castro and Abueva both came from communities where former American Bases are located. We all know they’ve had tough lives with separated parents. While I’m not concluding that their parents didn’t have a normal husband and wife relationship, it would be naïve however not to be aware of the activities near US naval bases.
During my time here in NZ, I’ve met very commendable Filipinas , who just so happened to migrate by meeting their spouse through the “mail order pride” industry. Again I’m not condoning this activity at all. But what I’ve found out is , they are a source of identifying Filipinos with Philippine roots. And a lot of times these Filipinos, because of the nature of their background are not easilly identified. It’s unfortunate that some of them are not know to the Filipino communities due to their background they don’t tend to socialise with the Filipino community as much, many of them would never even think of registering the birth of the children with the embassy.
Again my apologies for miscommunicating what I intended to say, In the haste of writing and maybe to be a little funny, I misspelled and didn’t really check what I was writing to the point where it came out in the wrong way.
