Leo Austria and Alex Compton First coaching Conference was a success.

SMB and Alaska made the Finals. WITH ROOKIE COACHES AUSTRIA AND COMPTON!!!!

But after several years, it is a downhill.

Austria have the notion now that he was just carried by a talented SMB Roster

While Compton have the notion now that he is not good enough to lead a team to a championship, and also not abling to maximize his best players

        • Had a good laugh yesterday when I saw a snippet of Snow's live video on Spin. In that, he said that the PBA just have to reboot itself, and that one of the ways to somehow restore balance and parity across all member clubs is to do a protect-5 and then a dispersal draft. Sounds extremely ridiculous and would not (in a million years) happen, but considering what the empires have done in the past (b.s. trades, possible tampering/manipulation of draftees to delay their entry to the league, and other horrible schemes that seemed to benefit only their teams) and the on-going homegrown talent exodus, I guess I'll just give his suggestion a chance.

          • LMAO, San Miguel Bums are so allergic to non-heavily lopsided trades that they passed up on Roosevelt Adams because they don't want to let go of their guys who has been riding the bench for most of his time there.

That may sound absurd for any league to do but with how absurd the PBA has become over the past years, I have to say that they may be a good match for each other. Lol.

                • It wont happen of course. But theoretically it's a good idea haha

                  • I wonder what would be the outcome of the KBL and B-League meeting with the PBA? hmm

if this ever happens, expect SMC to somehow abuse the reset/dispersal draft system and end up with more marquee talent than what they have before

Time to talk transfer fees and buyout clauses too.

That won't happen, everyone gets a pick and if SMB orders NP or perafirma to exclude their top players in the top 5 protected I doubt the likes of MVP teams, Alaska, ROS will be dumb enough to pass up on them if they are still available. Only scenario this can play out will be if SMB and their cronies get the top picks which his unlikely considering the other owners and team governors also won't be dumb enough to agree to that.

I agree. This is something that PBA needs to establish with its counterparts from neighboring leagues, as in like, NOW. This is a great idea, actually. The amounts that may be involved, they can discuss. Wag lang masyadong magiging gahaman/makunat ang mga involved parties pagdating sa transfer fee :P

Yeah, establish a system wherein they can transfer players freely between leagues. After all, they are all part of the EASL. It might be beneficial for players seeking playing time, development, and/or money in Japan or SoKor, while some established Japanese or Korean stars can come to us as imports.

Development is not that big of a priority in the PBA, so it makes sense for young players to go elsewhere. Plus, playing with and against taller imports might push them to play smaller positions, like for example, Kemark Cariño is a PF in Japan. If not developing their skillset, it might at least develop them to play their appropriate FIBA positions.

Winning is a priority here, so the teams might go for the best players of Japanese and Korean teams that are willing to sell their best players or expose them to us.

There's just nowhere for PBA's insularity to hide to right now. It's high time now for them to adapt to these changes. It really makes me wonder why it took them so long to seriously entertain these ideas. Hinintay pa talaga na makita yung epekto ng pandemic. For me, PBA, SBP, and all the other PHL entities and personalities strongly influencing how basketball is run in this country, should accept with arms wide open this role of being the premier talent developer in the whole of Asia. I say they should do it now, while the developed countries' interest is still with the other popular team sport (football, obviously), because aside from China, e baka madagdagan pa ang kakumpetensya natin in the future. PHL is not lacking in talent. Year after year, especially nowadays, it is producing talents deemed good-enough (skills + size) for the Asia-Pacific region top-tier leagues.
