Others will say "Hala, mawawalan ng trabaho at oportunidad mga homegrown local players natin"

But in the contrary, we can identify who among our local homegrown players can go toe to toe with Fil Am Players.
Let the free market decide wo gets to play in the PBA, not some affirmative action or glass ceiling. If the player is not good enough there are other options such as the MPBL, Vis-Min etc. While the cream of the crop could seek abroad (Japan, China, Taiwan, Skor). The recent wave of migration opens up a lot of slots for both homegrown and foreign based Filipinos, only the best should be in the PBA

Bear in mind the PBA does not exist to cater to Gilas’ needs but to the SMC fold’s.
Never look too far ahead. You might stumble on a block right in front of you.

The pressure to make some changes is really getting through those PBA heads these days. I hope they would decide on establishing a longer conference or even a full regular season. That way, mas makakaattract sila ng mga marquee imports (both world and Asian) at mamamaximize ng mga teams yung capabilities ng mga maha-hire nila.

        • I am still unsure with the pending influx of Filfors. Note that the strict Filfor ruling was because of the influx of Filshams. How are we so sure that our passports cannot be fudged? Clarkson all of a sudden obtained a passport that he supposedly got before he turned 15. Like 10 or 15 years he turned 16? Next thing we know Jalen Green has a Filipino passport. When it seems so easy for 2nd, 3rd or even 4th generation Filors to get Filipino passports when they shouldn't be able to I am afraid that any guy with a smidgen of Filipino descent can obtain a Filipino passport in order to play for the PBA.

Especially considering that many Filipino-foreigners aren't FIBA-eligible. Our FIBA-eligibles, whether homegrown or Fil-fors, might be denied an opportunity to grow. There could be hidden gems like Erram.

However, this will be mitigated by the number of FIBA-eligible Filipinos playing abroad. Stars, current or rising, are attracted by the prospect of playing abroad.

Yeah, I hope they do a full regular season and make the locals play alongside the imports for a full season. Also, remove the height limit for imports. Yes, some imports would play a big position, but with a 1-import limit, our bigs could still play big, sa 4 nga lang, which is actually my preferred position for our bigs.

I think our 6'5"-6'8" centers should be playing PF, ideally, although they can moonlight at center from time-to-time.

If they are unsatisfied with East Asians, PBA can get good players in the Middle East, Kazakhstan, and even Guam.

Actually, I have my wishlist for Asian imports:

                Jamshidi
                Kazemi
                Yakchali
                Zhigulin
                Ponomarev
                Arakji
                El Darwich
                Ali Haidar
                Al-Khafaji

We're just gonna have to keep faith with PBA with regards to that. I know they will act prudently as they cannot risk another involvement with eligibility fraud, similar to the early-2000's Fil-sham fiasco. It had a very heavy effect on the public viewership and interest back then, and even up to this day, a certain portion of PBA fanbase is still not too keen on having too many mixed Pinoys or foreigners of Filipino heritage in the league (which sadly is very backwards mindset).

It worked for SMB, especially during the Death 5 era.

Yeah, that's true. Even me, I can count myself as one of those who has complaints with how PBA is ran, but that's about some of their very obvious bs policies as of late, not so much about the Fil-Am issue.

Can’t open the links, but if this is Marcial washing his hands, he should have not heard yet of the word veto. He should have that power as a commissioner and not having it is simply him saying he doesn't want anything to do with it. Accountability should be a must if you are a head of something.
