They sort of hit it out of the park. Nice.
Phoenix Is Finally Not a Farm Team. Even their trades with Big and Established teams are ok. After reviewing, Phoenix has done this:

    1. Trade With Magnolia

Phoenix Got : Banchero, 2021 6th pick and 18th(Aljun Melecio) overall pick

    Magnolia Got: Abueva, 10th Pick

    2. Trade with Alaska

Phoenix Got: Vic Manuel, 2021 7th(Larry Muyang) and 19th pick (Nick Demusis)

Alaska Got: Heruela, 2021 6th and 16th pick

    SUMMARY FOR PHOENIX

Gain: Chris Banchero, Vic Manuel, Aljun Melecio, Larry Muyang, and Nick Demusis

Lost: Calvin Abueva, 2021 6th, 10th, and 16th overall picks.

And now, they are trying to flip Vic Manuel inyo Manganti and Sean Anthony.

Phoenix is fully rebuilding. But I think at least we can see their direction

I think they'll give this core of Wright and and Perkins a year at most. If they don't win within next year, well, it might be time to trade one or both. Wright is 30, and Perkins is 29. Probably get something (picks and promising prospects) out of them while they're still at their peak. Maybe take advantage of the farm teams.

Yeah, actually. Sean Anthony is a discount Abueva, just taller and a better shooter. He's gonna be a positive contributor for Phoenix.

It's top 2 for this year, actually. So 8 teams muna. 10 kung kasama Taiwan. The top 4 for the PBA is for the qualification tournament for the EASL to determine which 2 teams should go to the tournament.

Agree with June Mar. Not just him, though. All our bigs. And I think we'll need to adjust the import rules and the calendar to the EASL. We'll need imports for the whole season para may chemistry agad. You can't just have them play over 3 quarters of a team's season.

If this tournament will succeed then i will expect expansion teams come from Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam leagues in the future.. Unlike in FIBA that those 3 SEA Nations can't match the strength of East Asia top 5, In a club tourney, champs from TBSL, IBL and VBA can compete against top teams from 5 big Asian PRO leagues due to have 2 imports per team plus one naturalized local slot per team.. As for IBL, Satria Muda Pertamina Jakarta will be the representative.. 2 world imports plus Lester Prosper (or Marquess Bolden) will be enough for IBL champs to be competitive against the likes of TNT, Alvark Tokyo, Liaoning, etc... From Thailand will be Hi-Tech Bangkok City and VBA Vietnam will be Saigon Heat... Having 2 world imports for those teams from SEA can help them to be competitive and generalize more popularity of sport in those countries more...
Actually, VBA only allows one import and 1 or 2 heritage vietnamese.

That means even more restrictive than the rules in the PBA. At least they allow the import for the whole season.

But they could add more games in their league. That 15-game regular season will not improve their basketball. They could actually make their league an 18 or 24-game regular season.

I really like the idea of TNT Tropang Giga and SMB going up against the likes of Alvark Tokyo and Chiba Jets from B.League, SK Knights and KT Sonicboom in KBL, Liaoning Flying Leopard and Guangdong Southern Tigers in CBA, and Fubon Braves and Taoyuan Pilots from P.League+.

The additional import will make the PBA teams more competitive in the EASL. I think it's about time to adjust the import rules.

However, how can we integrate the import while not stymieing the development of any promising 6'5"+ wings (e.g. Oftana, Kobe, Navarro) or our promising 6'7"-6'8" FIBA-eligible bigs who have potential to play PF or are already playing PF (e.g. Tamayo, Cariño, Baltazar)?

Let's say Kiefer and Shiga advances to the finals of B-League and qualify to participate in EASL, Will Kiefer join them or not? Also possibility that Ray Parks will cross path w/ his former team TNT in EASL (although very slim because Nagoya is not a title contender in some predictions)..
I think they will allow. Whatever are the eligibility rules of the league, the EASL will follow.

So they just flipped Abueva for Anthony, Manganti and a pick. Not bad, not bad.

Meanwhile, i think Northport is just a stop over for the muscleman. Me thinks he will be traded to Ginebra. This is somewhat correlated with the Japeth to B League rumor.
Methinks it might be a 1-for-1 swap. NorthPort might have to give up a pick on top of that too, because as of right now, Ginebra holds the 5th pick, and NorthPort has 8th.

That will open up a Malonzo-to-SMB trade.

Yeah, PBA shouldn't really have issues with that as most of their powerhouse teams field FIBA-ineligible locals that are arguably better or at least on par with the likes of Kiefer and Parks, so any advantage by a B. League club would just be negated if faced by a PBA team.

I dunno about the fit. He's a shorter Sangalang with a better jumper. Plus, Mags have Corpuz, Sangalang, and Reavis as their bigman rotation. Abueva and Dionisio also play 4 with them.

But still, he could be a good bigman addition.

He's another undersized bigman. Well they could probably have him for nothing so it's a good pickup I guess.

Victolero is actually their best coach right now, not Cone. He coaches a good defense. As of right now, he's leapfrogged the likes of Cone, Black, and Yeng in the coaching department. Mags were just outgunned by TNT in the Finals.
