Isipin nila they were facing DR level type of players like them (Brownlee and co.) By the way 2nd conference will be height restriction of 6'6 and might be start late September or early October.. Basta right after AFC finals..
The height limit will be 6'7"-6'8". Man, I hope the Gilas forwards can hold their own against PBA imports. That will be a big challenge.

I'm sure parks will still return maybe matatagalan nga lang,

Sayang talaga si BRP. kung di na lalaro sa gilas dyan talaga ako nanghihinayang, hoping maayos pa.

As long as the PBA (and a lot of fans) considers the All-Filipino the crown jewel of the season, wala pa rin, and we can't do much quality control.

Kaso lang, quality control by playing imports (who are mostly bigs), it's almost like chemotherapy if our bigs who have potential don't get to play, and still get stuck behind the import. This is why I'm advocating for our bigs to be trained to play 4.

They should have been getting a cue on how Tab Baldwin is utilizing tall players at the same time.

If even Isaac friggin' Go is playing 4, I don't see how some other PBA bigs can't.

Actually, Pido did it in NorthPort with 6'7" Mo Tautuaa at 4, and Prince Ibeh at 5. Louie Alas also did it in Phoenix, with 6'6" Chua at 4, and Phelps at 5. Realistically, we can get our 6'6"-6'8" bigs used to playing 4. However, we need to start them early.

            • Watching the PBA New Policies livestream. They really doubled down with lots of "sitting out for 5 years". Like if you refused an offer of your mother team, failed to apply for the PBA draft after being eligible for 2 years, etc... What a joke

Let them be. Floodgates are already open. They can't stop it. Asian basketball circuit is becoming smaller and wider at the same time.

                • UPDATE: Fil-foreign players over the age of 30 will not be allowed to apply for the PBA draft anymore like for example a Maurice Shaw.

Looks like they are forcing players to play in the league or risk being barred to play when they reach the age of 30. For example, if Jordan Clarkson wants to play in the PBA after his NBA stint, will the PBA refuse him since he's over 30? Nag-iisip ba mga yan?

                  • Nice new rules, from the PBA.

                    1. Players with expired contract and no offer of team, will become unrestricted free agent.
                    2. Mother team of player has 30 days to offer contract. If player does not like offer, he can entertain contract offers from other ball clubs. If player still refuses to accept, he will be banned for five yrs. (Legal commentary: It might be voidable, as consent would be vitiated here)
                    3. Maximum salary cap for top 3 picks will be nixed.
                    4. The PBA will only allow Fil-foreigners to apply for the draft until he's 30 yrs old.

Why PBA loves to draft an all-encompassing clauses that court may deem it void or voidable or even unconstitutional?

I believe they could have done it better like Fil-Fors will no longer be eligible in the draft. Instead, they will be considered as free agents like what NBA is doing.

So still zero chance for NPs to play?

                        • Rules on the draft:

                          1. Applicant eligible for draft can opt not to apply but will sit out for 5 years
                          2. Player can still apply for draft w/in 3years but will take part in a special lottery
                          3. The special lottery includes all the 12 PBA teams, meaning all teams have a chance of getting a player applying through this system.
                          4. If player fails to apply in three years, he will have to sit out for another two years to complete the five-year sit-out period

Well, at least the ban is not a lifetime ban and allows some leeway to explore international leagues. Problem is, what if the player needs a fallback in only years 4 and 5?

                            • I think what they avoiding is for players to positin themselves in the draft.. I agree with the draft rights thing or draft and stash..
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
                              1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

                              • Here's a summary of the new rules: https://tv5.espn.com/basketball/pba/...agents-rookies

One new rule is that contracts cannot be terminated prematurely. If it is, the player will be banned and the team will be fined. If only the player is guilty, only the ban will apply.
