  • Here is one measure : how many players in the league have : Div 1, Euro league, G- league and NBA experience.

And what is the % of the season and the games that players with that expereince above play? ( if it is just 25 % - 6' 9 import conference only then that's indeed an indicator of the normal and average level

Many globally will be of the opinion that criteria above is a very good indicator to use.

but i think some obvious factors used are the players who play in the league ( who are they ) , also pay i would imagine is a factor.

But if you're looking for some kind of quantitative formula to determine which league is more competitive than another, there is none. At the end it is based on opinion and observation

I am asking people here. And we do not need to be scientific about it. How did you come up with Top 5 Asian Leagues? What is your basis?

ok here . while not perfect it is a good measure : how many players in the league have : Div 1, Euro league, G- league and NBA experience.

Division 2 team. Besides, I only count the official EASL and Champions' Cup matches.

            • What is ISL?

safe to say many imports have - g- league , Div 1 and euro experience and maybe some of the locals .
it is kind of sad,, cause the PBA has not kept up with the times..

My bad. It should be IBSL which stands for Iranian Basketball Super League. Anyway, it can be also called the Iran Super League. Hence, ISL.

                • I think what some are trying to point out here is the locals in the PBA especially up to the 10th to 12 h men are better and more competitive than other leagues. which is probably true naman. unfortunately the bench , but the stars (mostly imports) is what makes a team and a league more competitive.

It's East Asia Super League. The Middle East is in West Asia. Would be nice if we had an Asia League, like the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League in football.

As for our inclusion in the EASL, and the potential inclusion of Indonesia, we're in Southeast Asia, I guess?

PBA teams in the EASL isn't really the same as the one that plays here in terms of level. Remember in a normal PBA setting they only play with 1 import, and that's with a 6'9 and 6'5 height limit. In the EASL they play with 2. We don't even play with an import at all in 1 conference. Overseas leagues sometimes have 3 imports all season and with B-League's case four if you count naturalized/asian.

I'm not sure if EASL has a hard cap of 2 imports on the team, if so, then they're missing 1-2 more imports than they usually play with in their respective leagues. So I don't really see EASL as the accurate way to measure the skill level. It's the best we have, correct. Is it accurate? Not so much.

Young players like Thirdy are realizing this. That's why if they're capable to play abroad they will forego the PBA. No need to burn bridges though as the PBA is still the top league in the Philippines.

                        • Don't laugh , if the UAAP keep on recruiting good foreign imports and recruits 2 or 3 good one and done who are div 1 players for their UAAP regular rosters , not import conference, then they might actually be higher level than PBA

i even think ateneo is pba level. heck if pba teams play ateneo on amateur rules ateneo can beat them.

Good for them. Too bad the other league wants everyone to field a barangay level lineup so their MPBL level team can win
