Opening moved to April 18, Ynarez Center possible venue for a closed-circuit set up

We can't hold the season in NCR because the cases continue to rise," said Marcial. "I was talking to (MMDA general manager) undersecretary Jojo Garcia and he said if we wanted to do it in NCR, it has to be a bubble.
"But there are concerns if we hold another bubble. There's the cost. But more importantly, it's the mental health of the players. This isn't just going to run for two months; this will be for 10 months," Marcial continued.
Once the league gets clearance, more stringent protocols will be put in place. Testing will happen every 10 days instead of the usual 14, and a monitoring app and a log-sheet to track visitors and travels will be set up.
"It has to be very strict," said Marcial. "I'll meet with the coaches and players to tell them about the do's and don'ts. Once they break rules, an appropriate fine and a suspension will be slapped on violators

Trollano might crack NLEX roster, but fate of Shaw, Sumang hang in the balance
By Rey Joble
Don Trollano played for Yeng Guiao for several years with the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and became a part of the team’s championship run in the 2016 Commissioner’s Cup.
When Guiao was appointed head coach of the Philippine team to the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Trollano was also included in the roster as a reserve player.
The former Adamson stalwart will have a chance to reunite with his old coach when he became a part of a multi-player, three-team trade involving NLEX, TNT and Blackwater and Trollano looks forward to working with Guiao anew.
Trollano along with center Maurice Shaw and guard Roi Sumang were among the players sent to the Road Warriors as part of the trade that brought NLEX’s No.4 pick in the recent PBA Rookie Draft to the Tropang Giga.
But NLEX general manager Yeng Guiao admitted that among the three, only Trollano has a good chance of cracking a roster spot.
“Malamang si Don Trollano yung mabigyan ng chance kasi ang dami na rin naming players,” Guiao told PBA Rush.
The Road Warriors selected six players from the Rookie Draft on Sunday and Guiao admitted that they might not be able to accommodate all of them. Under PBA rules, a team is allowed to maintain 15 plus one player.
NLEX picked Calvin Oftana as the third overall selection then acquired David Murrell, a 6-foot-2, forward from University of the Philippines, in the second round. Other players who were picked up by the squad were former MPBL players Jun Bonsubre (third round) and Joe Presbitero (fourth round), Joseph Alcantara (fifth round) and Alberto Torres (sixth round).
“As for Shaw and Sumang, paguusapan pa namin sa management kung ano ang gagawin namin,” added Guiao.

If Cone values Holmqvist and Enriquez, he should find a way to find playing time for both of them early on. Transition off from Chan to Enriquez, and now go from JDV to Holmqvist.

Their rotation consists of 4 guards (LA, Pringle, Scottie, Chan), 3 wings (Aljon, Dillinger, Arvin), and 4 bigs (Japeth, Standhardinger, Caperal, JDV). Plus, they also have assets in Art (who when healthy is still a quality rotation player), Salado, and now Holmqvist and Enriquez.

The SMB trades were the ones that involved scrubs.Originally posted by thatweirdguy View PostThose guys were on the downside of their careers when they got traded. They did put up ok numbers with NP since they were given the opportunity to put up more shots but I still wouldn't call the trade fair.

Originally posted by JAMSKIE View PostWhile Ferrer & Sol Mercado aren't scrubs, I think Jervy Cruz is just an average PBA player & he isn't that young anymore. While he was a big time player in the UAAP, Jervy hasn't proven anything in the PBA. A prime Mercado was a hot commodity in the PBA, but he has been injury prone & like Cruz, he's not young anymore. Palubog na rin ang career ni Mercado. Ferrer on the other hand is "Mr. Inconsistent". Lulubog lilitaw ang laro. One game he'll play very well, the next game he will suck.
Come to think of it, ano pa ba ang value nina Jervy Cruz (who's now 34) & Sol Mercado (who's now 36) sa ngayon? I would rather have a 24 year old 6-foot-4/6-foot-5 big man than having an ageing Jervy Cruz. I would rather have a 25-year old guard or wing man rather than an ageing & injury prone Mercado.
The thing is, how much impact did these 3 players make in Northport? Almost nothing. Now, compare that to the amount of impact Pringle has made with Ginebra.
I see the Pringle-Ferrer,Mercado, Jervy Cruz trade as a "Quantity for quality" principle, which I think is a flawed principle.
As to impact, yeah, Pringle has had a bigger impact, far bigger than what Ferrer and the others gave. He gave Ginebra a go-to local scorer and shot creator (an area where they've been lacking in each of their 3 previous championship runs prior to getting him), and he bailed them out on a number of occasions. Ferrer, I expected him to shine much brighter in NorthPort, only to see inconsistent performances from him. You do make a point about Sol and Jervy being old, though. Yeah, Ginebra should have shelled out their picks too.
