Kuliglig said NLEX STAR KIEFER RAVENA was at the POEA yesterday to apply for a 3-year foreign worker's permit.

So his departure is indeed imminent.

He needs to make it to Japan before the 3rd week of this month as deadline for line-up change in B. League is set before April.

Nice to hear this. I see Kiefer doing better in the B-league than Thirdy does.

I think Kiefer is more ripe than Thirdy for a stint in foreign pro league. And this is not just becoz Kiefer is 2 or 3 years older than Thirdy but also becoz Kiefer has more experience in international & FIBA tournaments than Thirdy. I think Kiefer at 23 yrs of age (which is Thirdy's current age) had a more matured game than Thirdy.

I also hope it can set a precedent for current PBA players to go to abroad. Hopefully, Oftana and Tungcab get another shot to go to Japan. More PBA players going abroad means more PBA job opportunities for other players.

O yes, having at least 5 ex-collegiate/amateur standouts suiting up for top-tier domestic leagues abroad would somehow be an alternative solution to our problems with NT roster formation. As for more PBA slots, expanding to have a second division is the way to go IMO.

I hope the PBA will have a promotion and relegation system, so that the farm teams go where they belong, down. However, as in European football, trades between teams from different divisions should be allowed.

The fans may enjoy the Philippine Cup, but come on, we need to invite imports for us to get used to their kind of competition, although not to the extent that it deprives too many locals of opportunities to play.

I got questions about the schedule. A single round-robin conference can be done in around 50 days with a 3-day gameday everyday and all playoff series going the distance, so why is the All-Filipino done in 4 months? A double-round conference can go for 2 1/2 months with a 3-day gameday everyday and all playoff series going the distance, so why is it being scheduled for 6 months? Opportunity sana to reward the players with a longer offseason, and a break during the FIBA Asia Cup.

I hope the Governors' Cup is as long as it is so that the EASL teams are being accommodated. Sayang naman opportunity sa kanila.

If they want Ginebra to succeed even further, the PBA should allow Ginebra to compete in the EASL this October. Opportunity to internationalize the Ginebra fanbase.

What if PBA will not allow Kiefer? Kiefer is one of the players in the league has more fans and one of media darlings? If pba allows this then some players will follow also.. dapat si junmar gumagawa nito.. or even Terrence Romeo..

then you know the answer for that if PBA prevents that.. buy out, blessings from the owner and the coach, contract offer is legit. PBA is in no position to prevent that..

and it will be good if more PBA players will go and play outside.. it will be unprecedented move..

Good move for the PBA players moving outside, and also for the players just waiting for their big PBA break. It's a win-win situation, actually.

Bachmann also added that the first conference of PBA 3x3 will run in parallel with the 2021 Philippine Cup, while the other two conferences will be played in the mornings of the import-laden 2021 Governors' Cup.

To avoid conflicts with Bachmann serving as the PBA 3x3 chairman, Alaska has also decided not to field a team in the halfcourt tournaments.

"When Gov. Dickie was appointed the chairman of PBA 3x3, he also gave up Alaska in terms of Alaska joining the PBA 3x3. That's a sacrifice for him as well," said PBA chairman Ricky Vargas.

That means all 11 member teams in the PBA are set to field their own squads, although the Board opted not to disclose the names of the other five companies fielding teams in PBA 3x3.

"I guess the key here is creating a pool for SBP, a big batch of players and having points already to qualify for the tournaments," said Bachmann.

Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) president and Meralco governor Al Panlilio also welcomed the formation of the PBA 3x3 as the country's premier league focuses on building a pool to compete in international tournaments.

"That's why the PBA 3x3 is excellent because now, we can really build a track of players that can focus on 3x3. So that's another path to the Olympics, aside from 5-on-5," he said.

"We're building that ability for us to generate points, and that’s how we are ranked at Fiba, through the PBA 3x3 which actually Fiba is very supportive of. (Fiba has) given a lot of support with Gov. Dickie’s efforts and they want to make sure that we’re successful there. So that’s gonna be good long term for the 3x3."

The thing about these top pro leagues of other countries - Japan, Korea, China, Iran, NZ, Australia, is that they are in the off season during the months of June, July, August & September - a time when most FIBA & other international tournaments are held. Hence, yung mga players natin that might be playing in these pro leagues wud be available come FIBA tournaments.

The coming 3rd window of the 2021 Asia Cup qualifiers & the OQT this June is a prime example. We won't have PBA players for Gilas in those tournaments becoz PBA wud be in full swing by that time while the pro leagues of Japan, China, Korea, NZ, Iran, etc. would already be in their off season by then.
