I don't think a player can choose to which team he wanted to be traded to. Yeah, it can just be a stopover if phoenix can't afford his asking price.

This necessitates the need for a players union that will ensure the welfare of the PBA players even after they retire, true a number of these guys end up broke after their careers with limited financial options i.e. Willie Miller, a 2 time MVP, is a taxi driver, though in fairness he is also the taxi operator, but has admitted financial problems led him to driving one of his cabs

-The league barely hold financial literacy and financial management courses for its players, no pension plan nor healthcare for retired players, and the mentality of these players are akin to one day millionaires, and I think only Paulo Bugia pursued graduate studies after his playing career. That's why i cant blame some retired players who rode on their kids to become pro players as well since they no longer have a steady income (from Sotto, Ravena, Paras, Ildefonso etc)

Kuliglig said NLEX STAR KIEFER RAVENA was at the POEA yesterday to apply for a 3-year foreign worker's permit.

So his departure is indeed imminent.

He needs to make it to Japan before the 3rd week of this month as deadline for line-up change in B. League is set before April.
I'm guessing that is related on Gilas having no PBA players for the upcoming tournaments. Technically he is not a PBA player anymore.

These PBA officials.. SMH.. they should at least give leeway for last conference's bottom 4 teams to have unli-height imports. But with this current leadership that's obviously subservient to SMC, why am I still surprised?..

so I guess NLEX is still in Tank mode to accumulate more draft picks especially if there is another gilas special draft next season.

Very easy for PBA to solve this dilemma. Just stage a best-of-3 champions' cup 10 days after the Gov's Cup. Winner becomes a legit PBA champion.

                      • NLEX should just sell their franchise. No point in being in the PBA without Ravena.

Bro, is there already an article citing the length of Kiefer's playing contract with the interested B. League team?

sayang draft picks, NLEX would be the perfect tanking machine

You sound like NLEX is no more than a Kiefer Ravena team. I don't think that's the case.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV
