"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

So yes, I think this is a smart move by Phoenix. Perhaps Phoenix expects a good batch of rookies in the coming draft & having 2 draft picks in the 1st round (their own pick & that gained from the Jeff Chan trade) will do the trick. The message you have entered is too short. Trying to figure out how balanced this trade agreement was...
Jeff Chan, who averages twin digits in points and decent numbers in boards and dimes, was traded for Ginebra's first round pick.
A couple of months back, ROS traded a disgruntled Jericho Cruz to TNT for a future first round pick, Sidney Onwubere, and Kris Rosales. That's 3 players!
Cruz's numbers back then, since he was benched by Caloy Garcia, were significantly lower than Chan. Chan's Gilas experience and credentials are definitely far better than Cruz. What was the basis of this decision?
Did the committee approve of this trade? Another sinister move favoring one conglomerate?

But now that the tide has settled, it's "happy days all over again?"
And besides, the league should not even take a look at the team's roster when approving trade decisions. It doesn't matter if you have Wright, Lassiter, Yap, etc. in your lineup. What matters is who the parties involved in the trade, and from there, look at the grander scheme that'll protect the PBA and its parity.
In this case, the PBA is indeed trying to protect itself by allowing Ginebra to get what they want and bring back the fans...

Cruz's numbers with ROS in his last 3 games in the PHL Cup, an indication of how bad his season was, before being traded:
2 points, 1.3 boards, 1.6 dimes, 1.0 turnover. 0.6 steals
Chan's numbers with PHX this conference (import-laden at that):
11.6 points, 4.4 boards, 4.1 dimes
Is that fair?
