Final part of Philip Morrison's post on his PBA journey.
I get asked this question all the time in a variety of ways, “what is it like playing overseas?” More specifically I get asked often what was it like playing in the Philippines & the PBA? This …
Some notes:
1) Going to the Philippines wasn't a homecoming for him. These Fil-Ams who were born and raised in the states don't really consider the Philippines a home right away.
2) Who could've sent that e-mail? Was it Chris Ellis?
3) He confirms the perception that most Fil-Am ballers have a sense of entitlement and superiority when they come to the Philippines. "I run into a lot of guys that did not dominate at lower amateur levels (High School or College) but some how think they deserve a shot at pro basketball..."“I never realised that to be a jockey you had to be a horse first.â€

Calling Philippines HOME
Quinito Henson keeps it real here when he points that when a Fil-Foreigner gets interviewd and gives a shout out to their home over in California etc they alienate the viewing public who consider the Philippines home.
If these Fil-Ams come in and act like they’re imports and not Filipinos, they’d already lost upportunities to be accepted and end up with a Philippine career lasting more than a season.
It’s been said here before that being Filipino is more than just being a passport holder; what The Dean said on his collumn just affirms that.
Yes, get that passport before age 16, get to the Philippines and play in the PBA, but learn to integrate into the culture, speak Tagalog or Bisaya whatever, greet relatives from the Philippine provinces during interviews, respect the pioneers of the league that accepted you as a fellow Filipino, actively be shown on social media your interests about the motherland history because you are proud,
because the Philippines is HOME.
Only then this divide between home grown Pinoys and foreign bred Filipinos blur to diminish.
And the league office should know this.
