I actually don't believe this crap , that one has to play in the PBA to become better as a player, the list goes on and on of players who were already good once they stepped into the PBA, they didn't learn to play in the PBA they were good already prior to entering the PBA. Of course making a name for your self in the PBA is another matter, that's different

    Ravena
    Wright
    Pringle
(Christian S) yes he 's good already regardless if he hasn't played a single PBA game

"You need to play in the pba to become better" is different from "you can become better by playing in the pba"

In Kiefer's case he was already good when he entered the PBA. Playing in all those Sinag and Gilas games developed his mental conditioning - a thing Jason Castro was able to develop in the PBA only after multiple seasons as TNT's
        lead guard.

        • Don't forget that Kiefer is a practice player for the Texas Legends. For sure he toughened up playing against those Americans, even only during practice.

While obviously real game exposure helps, i think what is taken for granted is individual development in the off season (shooting, working on new shot and move game speed) it's really the off season development that i see improvment happen , when one has time to work on their individual game and not just to team practice commitments (after all Kiefer had so much big game expereince with Ateneo already) , you can see his reads of how he plays the pick and roll has improved with his time away in the US .

I think that's what NBA players are doing in the off season becoz the set up of the NBA having around 4 months of break allows them to do that. But when you're playing in the PBA where there's almost no off season at halos "ihi lang ang pahinga", doing some individual skills development during the "off season" (if there's such word in the PBA) will just be too draining & burdensome to the players, specially players whose teams always figure in the championship.

Try compelling Junmar to do individual skills development during the off season & U can bet he will get burn out easily. Masusunog sya.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

              • Thats the difference between the PBA and NBA. NBA has one long season and youd be able to rest and improve your individual skill on the off season but in the NBA there are three short seasons but you have to practice in between specially when you have to play with one dominant import.

Newsome has no Value to Gilas. And Meralco has been terrible in the AFC three straight years now.

More than the proposed Romeo trade, one.trade that TNT can explore is to trade Tautuaa for Almazan or Belga or better yet Tautuaa for Slaughter. Slaughter for all his might, his game does not fits Ginebra's run and gun game. YOU see Gin Kings plays well even without Slaughter. IN Tautuaa, Ginebra can run with Tautuaa and lob city for Aguilar and Tautuaa. While Salughter still has value, Gins may be amenable for rhat trade.

                        Slaughter is injury-prone though.

Thats the main reason why SMC maybe amenable in trading Slaughter. TNT will get someone who can match up against Fajardo, albeit could be injury prone.

One thing about SMC under Chua is the businesslike approach ,walang melodramatics or walang pa sentimenal value. Look at what happened to old SMC stalwarts Seigle, IldeFonso, Hontiveros, Pena even Raymundo and James Yap. If you dont have value anymore , SMC wont hesitate to shio you out.

There could be no Feu reunion anymore as if I were TNT management, I will replace Racela . Racela has not shown anything special that he can break SMCs domination to the throne. In fact , Racela cant get the TNT players respect and his every 3 minutes substutution pattern kills a players momentum. Nawala ang character ng TNT, all Racela do is complain. i would not be surprise if Alapag is elevated as the head Coach of TNT. Hopefully assisted or Tab Baldwin as the Consultant. Imagine how the TNT players will improve with Baldwin on board. Look at how he transformed the Blue Eagles. Sana malift na rin yung "ban" kay Tab sa PbA.
