How is going to impact Gilas?

I think Tautuaa will cover the naturalized slot, Erram, Williams, Rosario and Romeo will cover for JF, GS, JA, and TR.

Most probably the seven teams will be cooperative and will release its players.

    C: Tautuaa, Almazan, Erram
    PF: Rosario, Williams
    SF: Norwood, Abueva
    SG: Wright, Maliksi, Pogoy
    PG: Castro, Ravena

While the frontline will be smaller without the SMC Bigs, but Tautuaa, Errams, Rosario and William are more fit for international game as they are more agile, faster and has better range. Soballbis not lost for Gilas.
Exactly. I've said this in the other thread. Sure, let the SMC teams counter. Let the backlash happen. Let them prevent their players from suiting up for Gilas and let the fans hate them and unhate them eventually. Heck, let the legal mess take its proper course as well.

At the end of the day, if a Pyrrhic Victory means we'll achieve longer-lasting gains, I'll take that.

And that lineup looks pretty darn good to me!

What's the difference between the two? I have no f*cking idea. The result is the same anyway - the Commissioner is out.

As to your question: the Board has the 7 votes to not renew his services. But they don't have the 8 votes to oust him. They also don't have the 8 votes to appoint a new permanent Commissioner.

For the other side: their 5 votes won't be able to prevent a non-renewal of the Commissioner's services. But they can prevent an ouster. Weird. Neither can they be able to appoint a new Kume.
Not renewed.. much better word than ousted hahahah

But did they made a quorum to made the voting to be valid?

I think SMC has done its risk management analysis on this end and somehow has concluded that the impact won't be as negative as we perceive it to be.

        Probable justifications:

        1. Their three teams are the most popular in the PBA. They remain to be, to-date, despite the criticism.

        2. Despite all the criticism they've received the past 5 years regarding their non-support to Gilas, it appears they've weathered the storm.

        3. Not helping Gilas won't be generally perceived as "against national interest." And it won't translate to loss of sales, much more, a boycott of their products.

If quorum means majority, then they did, 7 of 12. But that's equally disputable.

Simply put, the worst thing that can happen here is for this to go to court. It will be very ugly.

Narvasa's term is ending anyway, right? So the Magnificent 7 has enough votes to deny him a new term. My bet is they will let Narvasa's term expire, then convince Globalport to back their choice of Commissioner.

Based on your post Narvasa is headed to the exit no matter what happens, since there are enough votes to deny him a new term. The contentions will appear if:
            1) Narvasa claims the post as hold-over pending selection of a new Commissioner
            2) SMC objects to the Board's choice of Interim Commissioner other than Narvasa
            3) The selection of a new permanent Commissioner.

                • Just what I guessed SMC will do:
                  @dino_mars

JUST IN: SMC issues statement indicating PBA at an impasse:
"Narvasa stays as PBA commissioner; rules, not whim, must prevail at all times."

They'll now use the 8 to "oust the Commissioner" clause in the PBA Constitution to prevail Narvasa from leaving, overriding the majority 7 to "not renew" clause.

And the timing seems perfect: 15 minutes before the presscon of Narvasa. My best guess? Narvasa will NOT RESIGN and hold on to his post, while asking everyone for sobriety and calm.

If they had such reservations they should have attended the Board Meeting. Kind of obvious right?

But if the 7 vote not to renew Narvasa, he can be deemed automatically removed. He can only cling to the position as a hold-over if there is such a thing in the PBA internal rules

                          • Should it be just moot that after the expiration of his tenure (whenever that be), the board will again vote if they will extend him or not, therefore the 75 % rule will prevail in this case and the majority bloc has the number?

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Only the hired lawyers will be happy about this.

Grabe ,has the morals of SMC went down to its abyssal low? WALA na yung PBA.

Could it lead to the creation of a new league, with the 7 teams as the pioneers. Wahat will happen to PBa, it will become a SMC intramurals. What if Cignal and ESPN 5 backed out as tv coveror of PBA, stating that its values is not aligned withbthatbof the PBA.
