Maybe Petron's a taker. BBE conduit yet again?

the problem with rabeh is not his injury but his attitude.
SMART gave-up on him .... despite playing good at Air21, they have no problem giving him away .... despite Ato Agustin being a patient Coach, he could not wait for Rabeh to "grow-up"
Talk N Text would rather stick with Japeth rather than swap him with Rabeh.
Rabeh should wake-up as his options are getting thinner .... if Managements of the teams of the San Miguel, Metro Pacific and Lina Groups would not want him, where will he go?LABAN KUNG LABAN! KAYA NATIN PILIPINAS!

Salud finds gaping holes
Monday, 20 February 2012 19:40 Joel Orellana / Reporter
A LATE call it may be, but the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) has at least finally blown the whistle. Commissioner Rudy Salud admitted that the alleged sale of the Coca-Cola franchise and the issues surrounding it has opened their eyes about a loophole in their rules on franchise sale. Salud said they will craft an amendment to avoid the previous practice of trading marquee players before the completion of a franchise sale. “Where do all these speculations and concerns of unloading of players in contemplation of a trade in the future come from? It comes from a loophole in our rules because there are no rules that cover the gap between the intention to sell and the actual notice sent to the PBA,” Salud said. “That’s why our board has agreed that during the next board meeting, the commissioner will be proposing rules precisely to cover that lag, that vacuum and together, collectively, we will formulate rules to avoid the unloading or trading of players in contemplation of a sale.” For now, Powerade remains an independent entity and the Tigers can keep top rookie Marcio Lassiter. Salud vetoed the proposed trade that would have sent Lassiter to Petron Blaze for sophomores Noy Baclao and Rey Guevarra, returning the proposal to the teams for possible revision. The decision came after Coca-Cola’s representative to the board explained that no franchise sale was consummated with San Miguel Corp. (SMC) and the Powerade team is still owned by Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines Inc. (CCBPI). Ronald Asuncion, the acting team governor of Powerade, told the board that Powerade was not sold to SMC, contrary to reports, and the team plans to stay in the PBA as long as it can. “Basically we wanted to clarify that no sale has been made. The Powerade Tigers continue to be under the ownership, management and control of Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines Inc.,” Asuncion said on Monday after the special board meeting held at the PBA offices in Libis, Quezon City. The meeting was called by board Chairman Mamerto Mondragon of Rain or Shine to seek clarification from the Powerade camp regarding the alleged sale of the franchise to SMC to the amount of P100 million. It was also said to be the reason the Tigers are dangling Lassiter to the Boosters. Asuncion, named by the company to the board after JB Baylon resigned last week, admitted that SMC has shown interest. But a deal never went through. Salud said Powerade’s statement somehow ended all speculations about the sale of the franchise. Trading top players before disbandment or sale has happened a few times before. In 2009 Sta. Lucia called it quits and was bought by Meralco, but before that, the Realtors sent key players Kelly Williams and Ryan Reyes to Talk ’N Text, which is owned by Manny V. Pangilinan who is also the owner of the Bolts. A similar case happened in 2005 when Shell disbanded. The Turbo Chargers traded Tony de la Cruz and Rich Alvarez to Alaska, Billy Mamaril to Coke, Roger Yap to Purefoods and Ronald Tubid to Air21. Their franchise was bought by Rain or Shine. “My main concern as commissioner is to find out whether or not a sale was consummated between Coke and San Miguel. Because if one was consummated then those two parties would be related parties and therefore no trade would be allowed under current rules,” said Salud. “Having established anyway that no sale was has been consummated, these teams can now make trades,” he added. “Upon evaluation of the trade that is now before my office I am exercising my right as commissioner to veto the trade, return the trade to the parties concerned for possible revision to make it more balance.” Powerade head coach Bo Perasol was elated with Salud’s decision and said they can now focus again on their campaign in the ongoing Commissioner’s Cup. “We’re very happy with what happened. We salute the Commissioner for being fair in his decision,” he said. “All of us were worried when the news of the trade came out. Pati si Marcio, he was also concerned.” Perasol probably was relieved as of this moment but Petron is reportedly revising the proposal and could include Rabeh Al-Hussaini in the mix, according to a source.LABAN KUNG LABAN! good job comish...this is what the pba needs, a rule change.
ragarding the rabeh trade..probably petron finally realized that they stunk during last year's 2nd conference when they traded for rabeh et al then suddenly surged when jwash and rabeh both went down. probably jwash is indeed a better player so it was a wise move choosing to keep him instead. still, if i were powerade...no trades, period.

For Petron, as mentioned, couldn't be happier because the revision might as well have the bigger impact. If there is no basketball in heaven, i am NOT going.

While Al-Husseini may be dealt to Powerade, I can't really be too convinced about attracting more buyers for the franchise because of his presence. For one, he's not a player that a team can build its future on. For another, Powerade's stock is at its highest because of the presence of Gary David and the two SMART-Gilas dudes - Casio and Lassiter. If these three end up leaving the franchise prior to its purported sale, then the stock value of the franchise would considerably go down. Which is why the likelihood of these three being traded for a couple of average players and scrubs would be compensated with cash considerations. Said cash considerations would make up for the loss of value of the franchise when it gets sold.
Coke is in dire need to sell the franchise immediately, probably because of the interest of their Mexico company. If they suddenly find themselves earning a windfall from the sale, then it would look in the company's books, making the sale to their Mexico partners more enticing.
