Thought it would be hard for him to get back in the league especially since Mahindra looked really good when he left.

SMC actually has a deep roster of coaches doing nothing( look at the bench of SMB). Its interesting that Boycie Samar, was high in the list of RSA especially after his role in the rise of UE in the UAAP, and looked like the next in line for a job, but nothing happened. Now comes an outsider with little credentials as a coach.

i think good for both teams too. Washington would be a nice option alongside Belga (if he stays) and even if Belga leaves, also good with Almazan.

I agree with the posters above, ROS actually didnt fall off the cliff with the trade given the depth they have, but ofcourse could have gotten much better value in return for paul lee, but the strong marketing capabilities of James Yap proves otherwise. Wished they could have snatched Sanggalang also from Purefoods.

Problem now of purefoods is that they have a surplus of guards. A lot of guards didnt get playing time when james yap was there only playing around 20 mins, now you have paul lee who is going to command atleast 25-30 mins a night. What happens to the likes of Melton, Mallari?

No problem all star guards not named barroca have injury issues, so Paul can come in when someone is injured and vice versa..

Barroca, Garcia, Mallari, and Melton were not enough for the team? These are above average guards...the first 3 can even be considered league topnotch and can start at any team. Agawan na sila sa minutes but here comes Paul Lee haha! I see another trade for one of those guards.

Actually in the PBA there is really no "unrestricted free agency" , you're forever bounded by the team that has your rights. Even after contract expires. Your only freedom of choice is to play outside of the PBA after contract expires . As to playing for Gilas absolutely you're bounded by the wishes of your mother team( whatever that is officially and unofficially

While one still has freedom of choice to join Gilas or not, there is no question the club team you play for is a huge factor in determining how easy or not it is to play for the national team.

I remember reading somewhere that there was a new rule passed that applied to Paul Lee's rookie batch. I think the new rule is after 6 years, you can leave the team. I'll try looking for it.

Im expecting Mallari to be shipped to Ginebra.

As much as Tim likes the 3 guard line-up he wants to badly add size there.

Mallari and Maliksi will play small forward.
Lee and Simon will play shooting guard.
Barroca, Garcia and Melton will play point guard.

Same here, I think that is going to be star's rotation at the pg, sg, sf if all of them are still with the team when the season begins
