looks like its harvest season again
trade-globalport-mahindra-karl-dehesa
A TRADE that is expected to spark a string of player transactions is set to be consummated by GlobalPort and Mahindra.
Sources told SPIN.ph that Globalport is set to acquire sweet-shooting guard Karl Dehesa and rookie Michael DiGregorio from Mahindra in exchange for Paolo Taha and Jonathan Uyloan.
The two teams both failed to reach the playoffs of the ongoing Commissioner's Cup and are therefore allowed to make player transactions.
Both Taha and Uyloan play behind GlobalPort's dynamic backcourt pair of Stanley Pringle and Terrence Romeo and therefore deemed dispensable, especially with another promising rookie guard, Roi Sumang, still on the reserve list.
Dehesa is an underrated gunner who has attracted a lot of attention from teams in his two years in the league.
However, sources said Dehesa might not stay long with Batang Pier and may well find his way to Barangay Ginebra, which is in dire need of outside firepower as seen from its failed campaign in the midseason conference.
Like all the other players of GlobalPort, Uyloan, formerly of Rain or Shine, is currently campaigning for team owner Mikee Romero in his quest for a party-list seat in Congress.
Uyloan is in the Visayas while Taha is in Cavite for the same purpose. The two were last seen together in Koronadal, South Cotabato last April 9.
Meanwhile, the deal might just be the start of another busy trading frenzy in the PBA, with more deals expected to follow.

STAR made its first moves under the reign of Jason Webb, acquiring RR Garcia and Rodney Brondial from Phoenix and utility forward Keith Jensen from GlobalPort in a flurry of trade activity on Wednesday.
Revamping an ageing lineup after failing to go deep in the playoffs in Webb's first two conferences in charge, the Hotshots initially acquired Jonathan Uyloan and Jensen from GlobalPort in exchange for Yousef Taha and Ronald Pascual.
The Hotshots later sent Uyloan and rookies Mark Cruz and Norbert Torres to Phoenix to get their hands on Ginebra cast-off Brondial RR Garcia, who has blossomed with Phoenix the past two seasons.

Star obviously does well i the trade, Garcia is a stud
Phoenix does fine, I like getting both Mark Cruz and Norbert Torres. Pretty sure they have two picks too in the first round, so they could really build a young and promising team quickly. How about getting both Pogoy and Belo to shore up the 2 and 4?
Global, lol, I don't know what Mikee Romero is doing?

As a Star Hotshots fan, I hate the trade. Why let go of 4 young promising players? 2 of them are bigmen. Ping and Reavis are already near their retirement. RR Garcia is really good but PG is already covered by Barroca, Melton, and Mallari. SMH
