Oh Chito Narvasa. "Narvasa, once a PBA coach and now serves as president of the Basketball Association of the Philippines.."
Is the PBA really considering the BAP president for the Commissioner position?

    • BAP still exists?

What could be the criteria for removing Fischer et al from the list?

You may be referring to the Basketball COACHES Assocation of the Philippines (BCAP) and not the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP). While their acronyms may appear similar, they're actually two independent bodies. And the BCAP was never allied with the BAP actually. Narvasa, an Atenean and a member of the champion 1975 NCAA Blue Eagles seniors team, is not identified with any party.

The President of the BAP today is Sonny Trillanes. Before him, it was Go Teng Kok. And before him included Joey Lina, Jinggoy Estrada, Tiny Literal, Freddie Jalasco (all Graham Lim appointees), and of course, Lito Puyat.

Is Chito Narvasa related to the late Chief Justice Andres Narvasa?

Yes, they are. The late CJ, Andres Narvasa, is the father of siblings Gregorio "Ogie" Narvasa and Andres "Chito" Narvasa, Jr. That means Chito is actually the namesake of the Chief Justice. Both sons are from Ateneo, with Chito, I believe, being the elder one. Chito was part of the victorious 1975 NCAA Ateneo champion team made up of the likes of Steve Watson, Padim Israel, Joy Carpio, Louie Rabat, Fritz Gaston, Bambi Kabigting, among others. Ogie, if I'm not mistaken, has Vincent "Chot" Reyes for his contemporary back in the early to mid 80's.

Chito has been out of the PBA limelight for the LONGEST time now. I think now is a good time to be back again not in the ghost organization named 'BCAP' where coaches now are being cradled by their mother ompanies unlike then where coaches where treated as players who transfer from one pba team to another..

Makes me think though , the 3rd conference would be more appealing if it was an unlimited Asian import conference. Giving us 3 unique conferences

                          • No to Narvasa, please.

Being head of the BCAP, he was against the appointment of Toroman back in Gilas 1's time. I'm surprised as to why he's not vocal with Tab's appointment

I think that was already explained by either Guaio or Narvasa. Tab's appointment was not challenged because the BCAP considers the NT post as a non-permanent position as opposed to professional teams.
