If the current standings of PBA teams is to be used as basis for next year's draft, then Blackwater has 67% chance of picking next year's No.1 rookie draft pick. Right?
And most likely the top rookie next year would be 6-foot-7 Moala Tautuaa. But Blackwater had already blown away such opportunity after trading it's 1st round draft pick for next year in exchange for Talk 'n Text 1st round draft pick next year & Larry Rodriguez. The trade may looked fair & even (to some posters here) but if one has to analyze it closely & thoroughly, one will realize that it wasn't a prudent trade for Blackwater.
Even if Blackwater doesn't end up owning next year's No. 1 draft pick, based on it's current line-up & its win-less record so far, it will probably end up between No.1 to No. 4 (at best). Let's be realistic, Kia, Blackwater & Barako would probably be among the "kulilat" teams this season. It doesn't take a genius to make such an assessment.
Next year's probable top rookies are Tautuaa, Rayray Parks, Troy Rosario, Arnold Van Opstal & Maverick Ahanmisi. I think any of these rookies can make a significant difference for a team like Blackwater. By trading its 1st round draft pick for that of Talk n' Text, Blackwater simply stripped itself of the opportunity of picking a good quality rookie that would have shored-up its roster in badly need of a quality player.
What would Blackwater get in acquiring Talk n' Text's 1st round draft pick for next year given that TnT is a championship contender team & therefore would most probably pick between 9th to 12th in the draft? What kind of rookies do you think will be left for the 9th to 12th order of picking? Usually guards who usually end up as average or marginal players, right?
Now, what has Larry Rodriguez contributed to Blackwater so far? Measly stats?
Blackwater needs to be more prudent the next time it engages in another trade deal."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Not because a player was "robbed" of the MVP title should give him an automatic slot at the Top 40. Of course, the criteria of insertion in the list if one becomes MVP is the argument here, but it doesn't mean a robbed one equates to a slot.
Otherwise, here's a list of players who should be in the Top 40 because of this reason:
1. Yoyoy Villamin - "robbed" in 1987
2. Nelson Asaytono - "robbed" in 1992
3. Marlou Aquino - "robbed" in 1997
4. Bong Hawkins - "robbed" in 1996
5. Davon Harp - "robbed" in 2002
6. Danny Seigle - "robbed" in 1999, 2000 and 2001
7. Kerby Raymundo - "robbed" in 2006
8. Jayson Castro - "robbed" in 2013
