Not sure about this but I think return packages can be done after every end of the season. Which is really weird considering you can get traded on the last day of the last conference of the previous season only to be traded back to your team on the first game of the succeeding season. Loophole in the rules really. Should be after the completion of 3 conferences.

Hope Globalport gets Chris Ross. He is a good supplement for both romeo and pringle.

I think it was because the two deals fell on the same season. But I'm not sure really...

Preparing for the last FIBA Asia in Manila did not convince the PBA to change it to 2 conferences, i doubt they budge now.

i can still live with 3 conferences as long as they shorten the two import-laden ones but have a longer All Filipino.

Best case scenario:

Make the third conference an invitational of sorts 12 teams with 2 imports + National Team + 3 Asian national teams! (Of course a pipedream since we need exposure for all teams)

An invitational conference could also be used to help South East Asian teams gain more experience. We could invite ABL teams or national teams from SEABA. If done right, it could even expand the reach of the PBA and give it more marketing value.

Chot was coach of the Coca-Cola Tigers until 2005 before SMC got his services to run the national team for the 2005 FIBA-Asia. When this didn't push through because of our suspension, SMC needed to give Chot a job, and he got the plum prize: the SMB coaching job in 2006. Jong was transferred to Barangay Ginebra to supplant Siot Tanquincen. Siot became his assistant and in 2008 moved to SMB to replace Chot Reyes, who resigned from the SMC Group. Note that SMC was still the major patron of the national team in 2007 at Tokushima but SMC couldn't find a job for Chot when they came back. Reyes later resurfaced with the MVP Group to replace Derrick Pumaren at TNT.

i'm not sure, but could it be that Jong "moved" out to accommodate the RSA people who are now running SMC Basketball. Jong was part of the Ron Jacobs coaching tree and was sort of loyal to ECJ so when RSA took over he left, is that right?

Sound idea. The only concern would be the philosophical going to war with the same enemy. But i think this scenario does more good than harm.
