It was. They treated him like an animal, which was really pathetic. Again, more than the precinct incident, if Salud is going to ban him it will be because of the fact it (hookers) went public (national tv!).

If he just got two hookers, i think Salud will be fine with the threesome

    • Import change in the works as Petron waves white flag

RODNEY White has likely played his last PBA game.

After White finished with a disappointing two points on 2-for-9 shooting in an 84-92 Petron loss to league-leader Alaska on Holy Wednesday, San Miguel Corp. sports director Noli Eala announced that the ballclub is waving the White flag.

“Yes Petroniverse, we will change import. More details very soon,” the former PBA commissioner tweeted on Thursday on his account @nolieala.

That should be music to the ears of Petron fans, who had seen White average just seven points and seven rebounds in two games since coming in to replace the banned Renaldo Balkman.

The 6-9 White was only a shadow of his old self when he first came in to play for Barako Bull last season. He scored 12 points on 5-of-17 shooting in his debut game against Talk ‘N Text which also ended in a loss for Petron in overtime, 93-85.

Arwind Santos, Petron’s hard working forward, said even with a solid local cast, Petron still needs a dominant import it can rely on in a tournament featuring reinforcements of unlimited height.

“Nakikita mo naman talaga eh, kahit sabihin mo malakas ang locals, kakailangan mo din ang import eh,” Santos said.

The Boosters are currently in third spot with their 6-4 record, behind the Aces’ 8-3 record and Rain or Shine’s 7-3 card.

The good news is, Petron has enough time to shop around for White's replacement since it's next game won't be until April 5 against Meralco at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

                          • Freeman eyed as cover as Petron looks to bring in former Hoya Sims

Former Georgetown Hoyas slotman Henry Sims may just be Petron's third import this conference.

A source informed Spin.ph that Sims has already come to terms with Petron but is not certain to make it in time for the team’s next game, forcing the Boosters to tap the import of their sister team in the ABL as cover.

Sims is currently playing for the Erie BayHawks and sources said Petron has expressed willingness to buy out his contract with the NBA D-League squad. The SMC-owned squad is also in a rush to send Sims his flight documents.

                            But there’s one hitch.

The buyout money for the 6-10 Sims – an undrafted center who was signed and waived by the New York Knicks and the New Orleans Hornets in the past two NBA seasons – can’t be sent immediately because Philippine banks and remittance centers are close for the Lenten break.

But in case Sims doesn’t make it in time for Petron’s next game on April 5, sources said San Miguel import Gabe Freeman might just be tapped as a stand-in replacement for the ineffective Rodney White.

The hard slashing 6-6 forward, who also replaced White last season with Barako Bull, has already recovered from an MCL sprain that has kept him out of the Beermen lineup for the last four weeks, sources said.

"Okay na si Gabe. May go-signal na siya kahapon from his doctor. Cleared na siya sa kanyang MRI scan so he can play," said the source, who also revealed that Freeman has already been joining the Beermen's practices over the last four days

"Healthy na siya eh. Nakukuha na ulit yung groove niya," he added.

The only problem now for Freeman at San Miguel is that his spot is already occupied by Justin Williams, the former Globalport import, since last month.

"Yun nga ang problema ngayon sa coaching staff ng San Miguel. Kasi hindi alam kung paano pa isisingit si Gabe ... Maganda nilalaro ni Justin. Very intimidating sa mga wingmen ng kalaban," said the source.

"So kung kukunin ng Petron si Gabe, bawas problema na ang San Miguel coaching staff... Kasi stick na sila kay Justin at kay Brian Williams," said a Petron insider, who revealed that the ABL has an April 7 deadline for the naming of the final lineup for the playoffs.

White took over from the banned Renaldo Balkman but has been a big disappointment, averaging just seven points, seven rebounds and 1.5 blocks in losses to Talk 'N Text and the Alaska Aces.

                            • Cornley set to be released as two remaining charges set to be settled

DAY after Easter, controversial import Jamelle Cornley hopes to get a new lease on life.

Rain or Shine management is optimistic the 6-foot-6 wingman will finally be released from jail on Monday as the charges filed against him after he went berserk on Wednesday are being settled one by one.

Team manager Boy Lapid disclosed to Spin.ph that the franchise was able to come to terms with management of the Sir William’s Hotel after settling damages amounting to P90,000.

Cornley reportedly smashed computers, vases, titles, and a glass door after losing his cool for what he deemed was the lack of concern on the part of hotel management after he lost US$1,400 to three prostitutes during his stay at the Quezon City inn.

At the height of his outburst, Cornley also knocked out a police officer later identified as Anselmo Lazatin.

But Lapid bared that Rain or Shine had also reached a settlement with the police official.

“Ok na rin `yung pulis, naipaliwanag na naming mabuti. Naintindihan naman niya,” said the ever amiable Rain or Shine team manager, who extended his profound gratitude to both the management of the Sir Williams Hotel and officers of the Quezon City Police District.

Cornley spent the Holy Week break at the Camp Karingal jail as a throng of policemen had a hard time pacifying him during his meltdown.

During his inquest last Wednesday, a Quezon city judge already cleared Cornley of three of the five cases initially charged against him by the police.

“Dahil sa binigyan kami ng affidavit of desistance nung Sir William’s Hotel, saka nagka-sundo na kami ng police, pinatawad na siya (Cornley) sa malicious mischief, alarm and scandal, at direct assault,” bared Lapid.

The only remaining cases that have yet to be cleared include disrespect of police authorities and resisting arrest.

But Lapid is hopeful everything will be settled once office resumes on Monday.

“Sana maayos na lahat. Ilang araw na rin akong stressed. Nung Wednesday nga gabing gabi na ako nag-tanghalian,” revealed Lapid, who once handled the coaching reigns of the franchise owned by Raymund Yu and Terry Que during its early days in the defunct Philippine Basketball League.

Petron blow as D-League team asks Sims to stay
                                By Snow Badua

                                April 01, 2013, 01:02 pm

PETRON'S bid to sign Henry Sims hit a road bump on Monday when the coaching staff of his NBA D-League team asked the former Georgetown Hoya to stay on at least until the end of the regular season.

Sims is being eyed to replace the ineffective Rodney White at Petron, which had agreed to buy out the 6-foot-10 center's contract with the Erie BayHawks so he could plane in as soon as possible.

However, the process took a lot longer than expected as the bank holiday during the Lenten break has kept Petron officials from wiring the buyout money immediately to the US.

Now another hitch cropped up when news reaching Petron said the BayHawks have asked Sims to stay on as they make a run at a place in the D-League playoffs.

The BayHawks have a shot at a playoff spot, being just half a game behind eight-running Maine Red Claws with three more games left in their regular-season campaign.

“Okay na yan nung isang linggo eh, kaso ang latest information sa amin, mukhang pinipigilan daw ng coach. Pinapaki-usapan kasi crucial stretch na yung D-League,” said a Petron insider.

Sims is averaging 16.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.5 blocks per game as the starting center for the BayHawks this season.

Petron, at least, has a back-up plan.

Gabe Freeman has started practicing with the Boosters on Easter Sunday and is being lined up to play matches against Meralco on Friday and Barako Bull on Sunday until a permanent replacement comes in.
