The trade looks more logical than fair if you consider the current line ups of both teams, with expected immediate impact to both teams' rotations.

Well depends on how you look at the serviceability of a Cortez-- he is still good but not enough to change their fate (bottom half of the standings, and depending on performance of teams there they could slide down to the lottery...)

That's indeed a major jump

i do think lottery teams will be decided by the performance of Ginebra (maybe even Petron?) the rest of the way. If they continue to suck the entire year then maybe Air 21 falls outside of the bottom two.

Nah...it won't depend on Petron or Ginebra. Air 21's lottery trip is dependent on theirs, as well as Global Port's, Meralco's and Barako Bulls'. I initially thought Alaska would be part of the group but they'll probably wind up in the Top 6. The Top 5 will be the 3 SMC teams, ROS and TNT.

I think he could definitely be a game-changer for the Express. Cortez is still not past his prime at 31 and looking at Air 21's lineup, you can see that all they need is a better than average PG to be able to stay competitive and even win some games.

SG - Wilson, Bonbon, Ritualo
SF - Omolon, Canaleta
PF - Isip, Sena
C - Baclao, Rob Reyes

Definitely a formidable lineup if you ask me.

for me Air 21's lineup is like a "Moneyball" lineup (from the movie of brad pitt about the oakland atheltics)..

but as seen from the oakland athletics 2002 season, they didn't go that far as well (i think just the first round in the playoffs).. but improved drastically throughout the season..

True true. That's a balanced line-up. i just don't believe that Cortez will improve Air 21 mightily (Arboleda can play that role) and that at best they'll get to 7 wins (with or without Cortez)

Let's see if they'll miss Taha's energy.

Well, put alaska on contenders list alongside ROS and TNT. great defense plus good outside shooting from 2 gilas 1 boys (Jazul and Casio). Lucky for alaska that they got Casio. Many team would want a Casio on their team because what he brings. Great against BGK debut for Abueva. he wowed the crowd every move he makes on the court.

In BGK's issue?? Where is Tenorio of Jones cup? they don't have legit C. They can get Ballesteros from Barako bull if they want in exchange for a guard or they can get Taha from Air21 in exchange for Cortez.

my suggestion happen. taha to BGK and cortez to air21. a win win trade for both teams. now BGK has 6'8 center in Taha that can get rebounds and defend inside. he can be the other inside presence that BGK Needs.
