Tim Cone really wants a outside shooting back-up for James Yap who he could also use side-by-side with James if needed.

If you really know your triangle offense, a traditional point guard is not needed in said system. It thrives with its players willing to share the ball by constantly passing until it finds an open man.

Our basketball in the PBA is now evolving, its no longer personality based but having personnel that fits into the system the coach wants to implement. Look at Meralco and Ginebra, Coach Ryan and Coach Siot, they instead changed their systems to conform to the strengths of their current players.

But they are already locked-in at that spot. Villanueva and Barroca will divide the minutes at the 1 and even Simon who can easily slide to the PG spot. Cone likes 'em big so this wasn't really a surprising move. It's just that they were relatively successful already in their first year together that it was difficult to ship out key players.

Now what is surprising is that BMEG got a future first rounder. If i am not mistaken it's for next year. If i am not mistaken, that could be one of Slaughter or Banchero or other prime projects
