    • This is why I've been clamoring that Ginebra doesn't need to draft another point guard because they can get one in a trade. Now they got enough guards to man the whole UST campus gates. I don't think anyone can really stop LA from playing for the country so it doesn't matter where he goes. Fudge Alaska (I told you guys I'll just be cooler at them than before).

Now another problem: BAWAS ULIT ANG BIG MAN! Which is really the problem they should have been addressing ages ago. You can use the word age in different contexts.
Philippines is in National Team transition mode.

          ok
Casio plus a 2nd rounder for tenorio is a great deal...global port gets a 1st rounder next year plus miller for casio, that's sorta weak thinking miller and david isn't exactly a good match.

not really..miller for villanueva is ok. global port is the loser coz it was casio who they got rid off yet they only got miller and a pick.

              • I think Tenorio used that "loophole" to get away from Alaska. But this time, the Aces management heeded Thoss' request coz he might ask for a trade also. HE is a valuable asset to Alaska. I smell something, Thoss using the Tenorio NT strategy to seek greener pastures.

                • so alaska has Casio, Hontoveros, Baguio, Abueva, Baracael, Espinas, Thoss.. that is one hell of a line-up.. if alaska loses ewan ko na lang.. Luigi Trillo now has all the tools.. i hope he knows what he is doing..

"We can't act on something that is never there in the first place,' says Noli Eala on the lack of a former letter requesting SMC to lend its players to the national team. Jerome Ascano

San Miguel Corporation sports consultant Noli Eala reiterated they have no problem lending players from their three PBA teams to the Smart-Gilas 2.0, so long as the Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas goes through the right process.

Eala, who made a brief appearance in Petron Blaze's team practice on Friday at the Acropolis gym, told Spin.ph SMC's big boss Ramon S. Ang is willing to release Boosters stars Arwind Santos and Alex Cabagnot to the national team, as long as SBP wrote a formal letter requesting for reinforcement.

"You're not just talking to a team manager here, because they simply have to let RSA (initials of Ramon S. Ang) know of their intention. If any Of our players would come to us and tell us they want to play for Gilas, fine, we'll just tell them to show me a letter of request so we can make the necessary move," said Eala.

Santos and even Petron swingman Marcio Lassiter have signified their intention to play for the Smart-Gilas 2.0 hours after the national squad nipped a tough US squad, 76-75, on Sunday to capture the William Jones Cup in Taipei.

Eala said Santos and Lassiter though never relayed their intention to team management.

"We can't act on something that is never there in the first place. But again, let me make it clear that if the players will tell me that they want to play for the national team, we wouldn't be a stumbling block. There is no point of stopping these players from playing for the national team," he added.

Smart- Gilas 2.0 coach Chot Reyes is set to submit today the national team's final lineup for the FiBA Asia Cup set in Tokyo, Japan from September 14-24. He has yet to respond to calls and messages seeking comment at posting time.

                    • I guess LA will be just donning the BGK jersey for a short conference, a sort of stop-over! They still have Cortez, JJ plus the numerous PGs that they drafted...

yes, it looks like the only loser is global port...i am not thrilled about a miller-david back court. they could have gotten someone else, casio is at least equal to a chris ellis.

                          • So Casio and LA are same value.. as Noli would have no problem in trading Dondon who will be become Lordy 2.0 anyway with Petron..
And Global Port wanted to pay for one player only
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..

Backcourt needs some work though. Seems like Alvarez and Monfort have good chances getting minutes!

                              • Ginebra is the clear winner on this. (player wise and marketing wise)

                                1. They got LA, for whom? Enrico.. lolers
                                2. They will let LA play for Smart Gilas - papogi points for kabarangay

LA is the talk of the town, when was the last time a player from PBA got interviewed when he was traded to another team?
