  • There are reports that Terrafirma Dyip are now willing to release and trade CStand. The team are still having rights on player despite his retirement. The question is “will this entice CStand to come out from retirement and come back?

An intriguing trade idea is to swap CStand with NorthPort’s rights on free agent Dave Ildefonso. I think it be a win-win for both teams. A reunion of CStand with NorthPort would be interesting…

Not sure if QMB is eligible for KBL Asian Quota, most of what i read suggest that he isn't.

That said, I think QMB knows his options in the BLeague and that's the reason his camp made sure people/scouts know that he can be FIBA-eligible and drum up interest and offers. Best case scenario and most likely initial plan for QMB's camp is that he won't need any help from SBP to validate his eligibility when he shows his green passport.

Now with the Chua interview surfacing where he emphasized the need to verify the passport, best move for QMB now is to pivot and to build a relationship with the SBP stakeholders--which he could be doing now by showing up to the PBA game.

I also noticed he seem to have a mouthpiece already in the media sending feelers to basketball authorities and to the public, which is good for his camp if used correctly.

nope, he cannot play in KBL as an Asian Quota, both parents must be full-blooded Filipino as a requirement

Korean Baekpd1983 said 3 years ago in Twitter that KBL is looking for pure blooded Filipinos, not mixed because a lot of online Filipinos keep recommending to him mixed blooded players. If you are looking at all the Filipinos playing or have played in KBL, they are all pure-blooded even if they have Canadian or American citizenship like Calvin Epistola, Avan Nava and Ethan Alvano. This is why you can't see mixed white/black Filipinos because KBL is strict about this.

              .

Yup for the very same reason I am doubtful about the possibility of QMB to play in KBL as an Asian quota import but maybe as a world import…

Baekpd1983 inquired about Jason Brickman early this year 2024 because he saw how good he was in the Taiwan League, but he lost interest when he was told Brickman has mixed blood.

I think it changed with the De Lianos who aren't full blooded. Fil-Spanish.

                  • KBL requires the player & both parents to have current philippine passports. so for example if norman black acquires a philippine passport now then his son aaron will be eligible to play in the kbl

Yes, that got me into thinking what happened with the De Liano brothers, could it be because KBL is really "SKbl". KBL could become more liberal and accepting as time passes by.

They are not Fil Spanish. I think they do have Spanish citizenship but their father is Filipino and to me looks several generations removed because from the photo I saw he doesnt look Spanish mestizo. It might be from their mom they got their mestizo looks. Though she is also a Filipino citizen.

Any Filipino whose parents are or were Filipinos should qualify even if they look like hafus.

                          • A lot of Filipinos with Spanish ancestry manage to retain their Spanish citizenship even after many generations (like Filams). Spanish citizenship is pretty common among tisoys.

The De Lianos are from the Amoranto family (Amoranto Sports Complex, numerous streets named after them, ex-mayor, etc.). They've been prominent Filipinos for many generations.

They are not recent hafus. They're similar to Zubiris, Prietos, Ayalas, etc.

The KBL criteria is very subjective, it's partly based on looks.

To be fair to June Mar, he still worked on his jumper, and now has a 3-point shot. He can score against bigger imports too.

Thing is, he can't really defend a PnR coverage that well. There aren't many pick and roll plays in the PBA. When there's a pick, it's usually to force a switch, or a means for the ballhandler to drive to the basket.
