so if ever AK34 and JB exercises all those legal options as per their respective Republic Acts

officially signed by Senate Pres., Speaker of House and President of the PHI.

therefore the PBA Grandpas and it's Jurassic old rule books will be put in question

considering the PBA are under the jurisdiction of the Republic of the Philippines and they must

abide and adhere on all Legal process and Laws of the Republic with the full approval and acceptance by the Supreme Court of the Philippines

lesson learned, I don't know if the content of that youtube video are legit and officially comes from the horses mouth.

but if it is indeed leigt that the Senate are really questioning(?) the PBA then the bottomline here is

" it is for the benefits of Gilas Basketball moving forward ".

we've already discussing the so-called "FIBA exemption" on every thread of this platform since the time of Adam.

Even Japan only limit to one Naturalized person per team. No dual citizenship, they need to chose in some cases

While we allow 6 filfors that don't need to surrender there American citizenship to play in PBA as local

          Sir Zai,

yup as a private org they can do that.

but the league in an essence has a public obligation as well

GAB being a government office and also must adhere to the by-laws of the Republic

are the one's who's responsible to gave and revoke a player's license.

my point is that, those private clubs are hiring Filipinos who's under the sphere of the constitution

and by-laws, as I said, are entitled to all the rights, prerogative and privileges under it's realm.

sorry I can't relate to that "baby boomers mentality" as per Sir Dotch

but the bottomline here is that both natural born and naturalized thru laws are equal.

          • It’s really complicated if PBA allows NPs like Brownlee, Blatche and even Kouame to play as locals in the league. Even if these players would be allocated to weak teams in virtue handicapped system, still some issues will surely arise. But I believe if in the case of Kouame in the event that he may re-classified to play as local or homegrown by FIBA then definitely by all means he should be accorded same status by PBA.

            • we've been discussing the case scenario of AK34 since the time of Adam.

amongst those NP, the dude was literally a product of "Philippine Development both for Education and Sports". since his teen years.

compared to kuya Marcus, Andray, JB and Bennie.

I don't think it would create a major ripple effect on the current by-laws of the PBA.

FIBA are encouraging all it's active members to do the same thing.."the essence of grassroot development".

not the "mercenary thing kind of approach that some(?) of the members are doing

because there's a loophole in the "before 16" policy.

What pick does Converge have in the upcoming draft? I saw them getting as high as 3rd pick in some mock drafts, not too farfetched if they pick DJ Fenner. Good fit for their team actually and if i'm not mistaken it was Charles Tiu who scouted him back in the day.

Why tho? Why is his Gilas stint in jeopardy if he joins the BLeague?

yes atm that is his only route. To be able to play as Asian quota import in B.league he must at least played a minimum of 1 game in FIBA sanctioned international tournament. He can play as world import if he is really desperate to earn bucks soonest but it will place him in unique situation. And it may jeopardise his FIBA eligibility to play as local for Gilas.

Afaik all 9 Filipinos who are currently playing in B.league had played at least one game for Philippine national team. James Spencer for instance was tapped in U-19 NT…

Most likely still needs to play a couple of years or is playing in the local league so that FIBA can approve him as a local. I dont buy the idea that hes FIBA eligible right now but rather SMC is trying to maneuver that route in case he joins the PBA.

Love it or hate it playing on a local league (pro and amateur) is a requirement for most fil fors if we want them to be considered. If those boneheads at PBA decided to let Ange play as a local we could possibly be looking at a local Ange right now.
