As long as the threat locally aint strong the PBA will last. The death of the PBA is way overblown. I used to believe that too like fifteen years ago, at a certain point you have to readjust.

The PBA aint as bad as the MPBL integrity wise to be honest. The MPBL is way more shady. Lower salary means its easier to bribe people.

People here at the IBN has been saying that the pba is dead/dying since 2008. Its almost 2 decades and its still alive

it wont die until SMC withdraws, since its a effective tax shield i dont see the league dying anytime soon

didnt Meralco win the last championship? what did Converge win? the 1st pick? we need to wait if they can actually win a championship with Balti. if they end up as a middle of the pack team like ROS, then that isnt a blueprint for anything.

Converge is turning into an overrated team, yeah they drafted first this season, and pick a lot of big man but still not a destination for A listers, yes they are trying to compete and that is good for the league, but people are treating them now as if they are the team to beat, and breaking the duopoly by what? isn't Converge was able to land the first pick by tanking and not by what the empires were doing, so they are still not as influential as what others are trying to paint them to be, Snow is acting like a pr man and crying about the trades but look at what Pampanga is doing in MPBL stockpiling talents and dominating the league, i know it's from signing and not via draft or trades as MPBL don't have rookie draft, i don't know if they can trade players, in short Pampanga making their team stronger in a way that is available in their league, so if there will be no draft and player trades and everything will be just by directly signing players will people stop from complaining on how the rich teams in the league make their team stronger

Yes. Tanking is the only way to go. But it is hard for a team like ROS to do it. To tank you have to have a weak team or a young team. A new team like Converge can do that. But it would be harder for an older team like ROS.

let's follow the European soccer model, where they have youth teams, if you develop and invest in young players, the team should be the first to benefit from the young talents.

I think people are high on the potential of Converge because their management are headed by people who are passionate about basketball (Jacob Lao and Delta Pineda) and they got really deep pockets. And I think they are very much capable of signing big name players away from the SMC and MVP teams.
