Apart from the prize money, continental tournaments boost exposure among OFW's, and maybe even foreigners abroad if they're good enough.

If the teams earn big, the taxes paid won't hurt as much.
not only for OFWs, they could potentially market the league (and their products) to a foreign market

Neither does the B.League for their NP's, but their NP's are at the very least permanent players under their Asian Player/NP Quota.

We should adopt it for players like Ange, JB, and even Blatche. If I were generous, I'd extend it to even longtime imports who have played three or four conferences in the PBA. JB provides an all-around 6'6" go-to guy who can play 2/3/4, and Ange provides a reliable 7-foot paint presence in the paint, especially on defense. Both are in extremely short supply in the Philippine context, although we could develop JB-type locals among our 195cm and above wings.

i really wish that BCL will have enough prestige so that our basketball league will think of making the league more competitive in international tournaments, i am a fan of European football the strong teams invest not just to win the domestic title but i also the most coveted Champions League trophy, in asia most countries follow the european sports system that is why i am quite surprised that Japan B League will soon implement rookie draft, will the draft only applies to local players or it includes asian quota players?, PBA teams and as a whole only operate to win the domestic title i think if these international tournaments like EASL and BCL will have more prestige i can see that the changes we want will happen soon, and i hope they will not wait for a SEA club beat a PBA team in international competition before making an action

          look at Manila polo club..
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
          1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

On this point, Malick Diouf wants in the PBA.

Malick Diouf, a former UAAP Most Valuable Player (MVP) awardee who helped University of the Philippines to three Finals appearances and one title, isn’t closing the door on reinforcing a club in

FSA's solve the chronic problem our teams have at center and rim protection. Only starting caliber centers in the PBA are Japeth, June Mar, CStand, Justin Arana, Poy Erram, Raymond Almazan, and Mo Tautuaa. Thing is, they're spread across five teams (Ginebra, SMB, Converge, TNT, MERALCO). And among those guys I mentioned, only Japeth, June Mar, and Erram average more than 1 block per game in the PBA. Furthermore, only Japeth and June Mar are 6'9" and above.

                • it's all about the Grandpas.

we've been discussing this possibility since the time of adam that the PBA should adopt what was going on as far as Global basketball landscape are concern.

but unfortunately they haven't acted on it for now.

we have to be realistic, even in our own beloved backyard, Grandpas or I would say old folks are not really into new technology, the new paradigm, except for a few but it's still majority are not warm and excited about new things, they will automatically settle with their usual tried and tested old things they've comfortable with, the so-called "Safe Zone".

but we as a Filipino are very known for being patience, optimistic and very positive moving forward except maybe on some people who are heavily into this socmed thing from sunrise to sundown. oh well we all know that negativity outweighs positivity that's socmed, it's the reality now.

anyway, back to the topic about Global basketball, the PBA should adapt what is happening right now outside it's own comfortable zone, issues about FSA's, naturalized players specifically on AK34, height restrictions, revisions of old dilapidated rules, new marketing strategy among others should be tackle and address ASAP because our beloved league are slowly dying

                  • if pba wants to do this free tickets, the simplest thing to do is coordinate with the LGU of the venue as it will be the proper way to distribute free tickets, as the people who live close to the venue has an easier access to the venue, as if they will only give cheap tickets for free why does someone from a much farther place will spend money and brave the traffic just to seat in the bleachers, it's better to watch at home

And at least have a better game slate than SMB-Blackwater and TNT-Converge (the slate for May 1).

                        I hope so too.

And, maybe the EASL and BCL having more prestige will have the PBA adopt these as a de facto third conference. Plus, continental trophies are worth more than domestic trophies (although winning a continental trophy without winning domestically will have less value).

Hoarding is fine when the teams can compete continentally. Kaso, look at the PBA teams' continental records the past two seasons. SMB (the strongest team in the PBA) were 0-2 in last year's EASL Champions Week with a point differential of −83. TNT have been 1-7 with a point differential of −89. MERALCO (who don't even hoard, and just replaced Ginebra) are 1-5 with a point differential of −47.

If you say you're the best, show it in big stages. Domestic playoff games, continental club games, mga ganun.

yes i think the criticism for will somehow minimize if those teams that hoard talent can win it all in international competitions, just like the european big football clubs they are heads and shoulders above than their competition in the domestic league but because of the UCL factor the shout for imbalance is not as loud as here, while oil clubs like manchester city and psg even though they dominated their domestic leagues in the past few years they cannot get the same respect as the other historical clubs due to lack of European success especially PSG as City won the UCL last year.

and remove those stupid gimmicks as a requirement to get a free ticket, just give it outright and like what i said coordinate with LGU's as they can really help in distributing those free tickets especially to the people that live near the arena, if people were able to digest the garbage that the MPBL has to offer because it's free how much more the PBA in which still levels above in terms of quality of plays compare to MPBL

"May nanonood ba sa inyo ng PBA?"

This made me laugh. But nowadays, I think there are fewer basketball watchers in UP in general, not just the PBA. Maybe in the UAAP season and NBA playoffs, but that's it.
