    Sir Rodbi,

On the other hand, some of those local tycoons who are not interested in the professional baskettball leagues may somehow sponsoring some other sports discipline which for me, okay lang.

for as long as they are actively involved in Philippine Sports in general..there's no need to be concern.

they had some extra moolah and more to come..well share share naman pag may time db.

      Who knows.
good chance Saudi might with their relative sportswashing. The Laos getting into bed with them might just be the early talks.

SMB before, except for the Asaytono era, always had a star studded team. But they didn't have a sister team before. And when they had they didnt have a farm team. It was under RSAs watch that the parity of the teams went down, mostly due to the farm teams. If I were commissioner I would look for new franchises to buy out the farm teams. If a team is always last 2 despite having a top 1 or 2 pick every draft they should sell their franchise.
I think Ginebra / Gordons Gin is already exist before and SMB - Ginebra are already sister teams even in the 80s

Billionaire owner of the Clips among others..whom we all know had passion to the game.

that's the kind of businessmen the PBA needs to lure not the kind who only had some other agendas.(I'm biting my tongue right now).

Oh dear!! we all know whose the obvious..that is why.
Chooks to Go wants to join in the PBA but SMC blocked them by changing purefoods name to Magnolia…!there still some companies want to join but PBA stops them to do so…!

Ginebra/Gordons Gin was owned by La Tondena. They were bought by SMC and was rebranded as Ginebra San Miguel. SMB did not have a sister team before. They were always loaded with talent though except for the Asaytoni period.

The PBA should improve on its attractiveness to players. Get more revenue so teams can make better offers to players.

Also, the league needs to improve its competitive level. The EASL is a good indicator of that. PBA teams having a record of 2-9 in the EASL with 1 game left for MERALCO is bad. Improvement must come from the PBA (import rule changes - no height limit, allow 2 imports, let teams choose whichever fits them best; less all-Filipino, more with imports) and its teams (tactical adjustments, roster construction).

Apparently SMC owned Ginebra since 1987. Did they play like sister teams? I dont know.

The company was renamed La Tondena Distillers, Inc. (LTDI) in 1987 after being acquired by San Miguel Corporation from the Palanca family. The company then adopted the present corporate name Ginebra San Miguel, Inc. on March 7, 2003

It didn't look so. I remember that in the latter part of the 90's, SMB was the frequent victim of Ginebra's clutch playoff moments, with Bal David being the main perpetrator.

                        Sir Tukayo,

whatever issues or concern happened before be it in the business side among others, I hope the two sides may eventually patch-up any differences moving forward.

look MVP and RSA had some previous issues(?) amongst themselves but eventually settled their differences because strategically they really need each other's expertise to make their respective empire succeed on whatever business endeavour they want to undertake, locally.

Because Jaworski before doesn't want to be under by higher management... He wants to led his team on his own terms.. That's why he and Ginebra was loved by the masses before because of their underdog "NSD" mantra... I think aside from being playing coach, he was also the de facto GM of Ginebra / Gordons Gin that time....

Chooks might be better franchise than Blackwater, Terrafirma and Northport if the were allowed... For sure they will compete and willing to spend.. but PBA big bosses doesn't want competition, They just want only SMC & MVP teams to run the show... BWB, Dyip and Pier have good roster to be honest... If Chooks, SGA are those teams who will handle the current line up of 3 farm teams, they might upset some big teams in the PBA....

In as much as I'm no fan of Jaworski (I disliked him for being a dirty player), that's the attitude I liked so much about him.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

I agree. There's a possibility that he's one of those Pinoy basketball personalities that disliked the overt and uncontrolled commercialization of the sport. Well, it's reasonable to assume that as he's a product of his time - a time when it's genuinely all about basketball and winning at it at the highest of levels. However, it was also a time when playing contracts weren't structured the way they are now. You can only imagine, what if The Big J and his contemporaries experienced today's basketball and the personal gains from it, now that the SMC empire in the PBA is at its absolute peak? The influence, the clout, the power they have over the sport in this country. Would he still have the same mentality?
