  • Thanks bro. He's out for good with the PBA, is most like it. Too bad, he's a proven winner.

hehehe i think the drama started earlier with Romeo being traded, Mayor Castro and his alleged side bets, Alas and pther young guns traded to appease some veterans, jericho cruz opting out, and dickel being ousted by tnt players due to his strict diet.

In terms of PBA, I think TNT still hold his rights, since he's only entering his third season (you become a UFA only after playing in the PBA for 7 years).
hmm i just recalled jeremy lin not being able to sign with GSW years back because his CBA team (which his contract already ended) decided not to clear him

edit: the cba itself didnt clear him, not the team

Jeremy Lin won't be returning to the NBA this season after all. According to Shams Charania of Stadium and The Athletic, the former New York Knicks star did not receive a Letter ...

Weird. I read in the rules that FIBA is the one in charge of clearing players for international transfers.

I guess, it depends on the country.

Regarding the 2nd paragraph. I think that UFA applies on a case to case basis and not that stupid 7 year rule nowadays. Take for example Jeron Teng who wasn’t even on his 7th year as far as i know.

Does anyone have an idea how much Taiwan usually pay for asian imports?

They dont have asian imports anymore. Brickman is just a regular import.

I think Williams' situation has some similarities to Kiefer Ravena's exit from NLEX where Kiefer directly approached MVP and asked for his release and they voided his contract. But Ravena's planned move to Japan did not sit well with SMC/PBA and they tried to block it but ultimately with no binding contract they had to let him go. I think FIBA was clear about this when SBP protested Jordan Heading signing in Taiwan despite being with Gilas, FIBA said if the player has no contractual obligations then the player can sign/play anywhere he chooses.

                      They need to acquire talent.
Yep, Mikey's done with TNT. Chot said it himself: https://x.com/reubensports/status/17...901456567?s=20

TNT are exploring trade option, since they still hold his rights. But given their conduct in the negotiations, expect lowball offers from other teams.

                        • I think Williams has some options outside of the PBA, I doubt his camp will overplay their hand against TNT like this if they didnt have any offers from other leagues.

Taiwan leagues are around the corner. Those leagues are notable for hiring Asians as their world imports (Sakakini, Geramipoor, Ricci and Brickman).

And with Mikey's current quality, that's not far fetched. He's still head over shoulders against most Asian locals anyway and has a pedigree of winning in the pros already so it would be a sensible move for Taiwanese clubs to sign him.
