Very reasonable perception. Slaughter is needed as he does play good basketball for his size, and Aguilar may be included for the simple reason that JR Reyes, Villanueva and even the aging Thoss are not at the level of national team games. On the other hand, there are suspicions that Fajardo will be 50 years old when he is released by the San Miguel group for the national team. Aguilar though would have to make up his mind to be useful WITHOUT any further quibbles. He might have the physical conditioning ethic, but his desire to help his team, based on his actual contribution towards winning, and winning a lot, is clearly closer to zero than 100. Caguioa is possibly the worst ball hog ever in PBA history, but no one faults him for that because he clearly wants to deliver wins. Slaughter teamed with the unlimited rice boys -- Hussaini, Belga and Quinahan -- to prop up the aging Douthit would make for a more useful frontline. Meralco also has an incoming set of Inasal big boys who may provide productive help n the near future. All of them would need more ripped physiques, but we can't really force them to do so. Who knows, this SHBQ group may make a "it's Slaughtertime!!!" chant worth looking forward to.
Michael Jordan was not an exceptional physical specimen by NBA standards. His overwhelming desire to win, adjust and crush opponents though made him the most respected, if not feared, opposition in his time. An interview with Malone and Stockton should prove this.
Originally posted by zuma169 View Postactually i am just referring to japeth only as i have high respect for ASI and think that Asi is one of the best bigmen Asia has produced..
I am talking about japeth's overall presence and role within the team where he failed.. if he was effective enough, why didn't we see him often during the FIBA Asia Champs 2011... his only "good game" came from the win against Iran during the Jones cup where Iran was just out of sync..
you know analyzed, i am still hoping Japeth will become confident and tough enough.. but not being of help under coaches yeng, rajko and chot.. arguably the best minds in PH bball now, speaks a lot about japeth..
i am a staunch believer that what you are in practice speaks volumes of how you will be on court.. these coaches on a daily basis handled japeth so why isn't he being used that much on court.. that is where my apprehensions come from..
i like the kid, he has hops, has a midrange jumper.. but he is not tough enough to handle the likes of kardoust, sahakian, haddadi, oh, yi, etc... his mind is somewhere else.. i am still hopeful but i don't know what will happen to him..
BUT you know analyzed, at the end of the day, there is a big possibility that slaughter and japeth might be included (if japeth will still be with TNT).. that is because of the MVP effect.. once MVP notices that we lack bigmen, he might order it to the coaching staff.. this is just a hunch..

If MVP brings in NLEX, would it be legal for SMC to bring in SLEX?
Technically, competing brands cannot be present in the league. Are SLEX and NLEX considered each other's business competitors since they are in the same industry? Or could we argue that they're not since they serve unique markets?
