  • I haven't seen the MOA of PBA and BIR that owning a PBA team ia a charitable act. No benefit from owning PBA for tax purpose directly.

For Gilas, it is because MVP foundation is the one who is supporting Gilas as a national team.

Article itself says it's the marketing managers who convince RSA to keep the teams. Marketing "expense," those product names emblazoned on those jerseys isn't there just because. If teams become profitable it will "shrink" the expense = more taxes.

Charity was mentioned not about pba being a charity, RSA mentioned that he was deciding to choose between having pba teams versus giving it to charity. Whether he chooses any of the 2, it's for tax purposes. Instead of giving money directly to BIR, give it to charity (deductible) or treat it as an expense (pba). That way you get added goodwill from the people.

        • pba is simply a business expense/marketing expense that you could use as a tax deductible operation. Its a tax shield

SMB has this history of picking deep into the drafts. Doesn't matter. Their own picks rarely get to play. They dont care about picking high because they can get their farm teams to pick and "ripen" the players they want.

yep, these are just vanity picks, for the sake of drafting, since SMB has TF and NP to do the drafting and player development for them.
