For the qualifying windows of the 2023 FIBA World Cup, what the PBA is doing is that it gives break to SMB, Ginebra & TnT (during the windows) which are the teams with rich national team prospects. I'm actually alright with this set-up (SMB, Ginebra & TnT given a break during the windows), what I find unacceptable is the PBA's refusal to modify its calendar so as to synchronize it with FIBA calendar so that during the FIBA season (July, August & September period) PBA would be on its off season thereby freeing all its players to train & play with the national team. As we have seen in the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup, we have to contend with our B-league players & college players as PBA players were unavailable with the PBA season still ongoing. On the other hand, the rest of teams in Asian basketball were able to parade their top players in that tournament simply becoz their respective pro leagues were on their off-season at that time.

That is why, I as keep on saying, I believe that it is in the best interest of Philippine basketball that more & more quality Pinoy players are playing in overseas leagues like B-league & KBL. Simply put it, available ang mga players na yan during FIBA tournament proper.
Yeah, the PBA can't make concessions for just this upcoming WC. It has to make concessions for every FIBA window, every FIBA tournament proper. Allows players to train with the national team and gain some chemistry, and gives a good preparation period for the tournaments.

Can we say that this is the PBA's problem at its core?

I think the PBA's biggest problem is they treat the fans like idiots. They build a lot of bad sentiment among the fans unnecessarily since they treat the goings of the PBA as something only a few deserve to know.

Actually he deserves more than 2 million... He gives more championship to SMB since he came, And make Leo Austria as a good coach.... SMB (SMC as whole) should treat him just like Patrimonio and Caguioa.. Not ala D. Siegle, Yap, Ildelfonso, Menk, Santos, Cabagnot, etc..... SMC dominated the league since 2014 and most of their championships came from Fajardo's era....

More ineligibles will join the draft for residency and thus FIBA clearance. Is that what I'm getting?

To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
                  1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

Residency is for exemption. This is expensive and long. By my calculations Slaughter and Newsome had at least 8 years of residency before they got theirs.

The likes of Lucero, Balunggay, Koon and M. Phillips not yet FIBA eligible makes the PBA very happy, yes?

Fans alreafy noticing northports level goes up facing mvp teams and goes dud against smc teams
We need some form of promotion and relegation as some sort of deterrence to tanking. Question is, can newly-promoted teams afford the costs of being in the PBA?

I don't know about Adams case but according to the article Schonny visited PH when he was 3 and got a PH passport when he was 9. If it was just money, a lot of money would've been given for Mike Philipps approval. A 6'8 guy with his length motor and athleticism doesn't come often for PH. But he was not approved. For now I would just take Fiba's decision at face value. Deschon had valid papers indicating he had a PH passport before he turned 16. Mike Philipps did not.
