Edit: I'll fix my wordings here - it is not jampacked but you cannot say that the gate attendance is few. I noticed that the Blitz was conducted only in one location - in Darwin.
How much are the tickets. Have any source if it is more profitable than playoffs.

i don't have an idea about the tickets. obviously, it is not as profitable as playoffs it is pre-season. regardless, that's still profit, if there is.

using that to Philippine setting, we can do our own version of Blitz with some twist and more stakes for a unique reason.

I guess you forgot the topic. You guys want to have a preseason instead of All Filipino. Which make no financial sense because PBA teams will just continue to bleed with your setup.
And again why not the current setup if there are stakes. Why make it preseason. Thats what doesn't make sense to me.

          • Hard to build interest for the preseason (and even the preliminary rounds) if there isn't anything to look forward to with most of the teams. This goes back to the lack of real parity in the league. For example, who would be interested in the personnel changes of teams like Northport, if everyone knew they won't ever compete for a title?

I agree. Whatever PBA situation now like low live audience, its there fault primarily. Now they are in a situation if they will spend more to get the live audience back without guarantees on increase income. Make the league balance and enforce rules on tradeand salary caps but so lowering the take home of players and loss them to other asian leagues.

Best thing you can do is build a fanbase among RoS, Converge, TNT, and MERALCO. Correct me if I'm wrong, but only the SMC teams have a large and solid fanbase. More fans, more selling.

And if I hear, tickets are expensive. Maybe make them more accessible to fans by using promos?

                • To bring the fans back to the games, rivalries have more impact than parity. You just need to have a couple of good rivalries based on team identities and corporate competitors. Cispa vs toyota. Purefoods vs swift. Magnolia vs chooks.

Then once in a while, a bottom team makes a cinderella run.

Mobiline or tanduay was once a dominant team and everyone watched the games to cheer on the other teams to beat them. This could be the same against the bay area dragons

                  • Ginebra & SMB are just "buying" their PBA championships.

                    I couldn't agree with U more bro.

Perhaps PBA people thought that its a prudent move marketing wise that they have favored 2 of the most popular PBA teams - Ginebra & San Miguel Beer, by letting those teams got away with rampant one-sided player trades & maintain farm teams thereby making Ginebra & SMB such souped up teams while the rest of the teams have become depleted. (Of course TNT has also practiced these "cheating" as well).

The thing is, PBA fans have evolved na rin that they could no longer accept these kind of "cheating" even if their favorite teams Ginebra or SMB are the ones who benefit from such cheating. Some Ginebra or SMB fans are no longer proud that their respective teams have been winning championships becoz they think that those are just "bought" championships. Binili lang nila yung mga championships na yan.

Last time I watched a PBA game in Araneta way back 2015, ticket price was at PHP 370.00. I can't remember though if it was gen ad or upper box, but the view was okay if you have 20-20 vision, you can still see the players' faces. It was a Sunday double-header with TNT-BGK match-up as the main game. Applying to today's value, perhaps the mentioned amount should now be very close, if not, already surpassed the 500's range. Such amount should still be peanuts especially if the games will feature both SMC and MPIC giants, with their marquee players and all.

I agree about the promos. If the games feature non-SMC/MPIC teams or are not marquee enough, they should be discounted. Though my suggestion could cause a major issue among PBA teams when it comes to profit sharing.
