Those oldies in the PBA are in the twilight, They don't have the patience to wait for the likes of D. Ramos, K. Paras and Etc., to be the face of the PBA and their companies in the coming years. Can't believe PBA resorted into this. PBA need new minds they are too outdated.

VERY IMPORTANT 10 LESSONS FOR OUR YOUNG BASKETBALL PLAYERS. What is the lesson our future young players, especially the stars in the mold of Thirdy Ravena, Will Navarro and the like, must learn from this experience of Will Navarro not being allowed to play in the Korean Professional League? They are as follows:
First, do not immediately jump into the PBA draft. There are other better leagues in Asia and Australia wanting to engage Filipino Players. Make PBA your second, third or even fourth choice.
Second. Getting immediately into the PBA draft after college will not be for your paramount interest, financially, emotionally and physically.
Third, Do not believe that crap that not playing for the PBA is against our national interest. There is absolutely NO national- interest-issue playing in the PBA. PBA is a private enterprise.
Fourth, playing abroad and receiving much larger salaries will greatly contribute to the economy of the Philippines. Your dollar remittance will surely help the coffers of the government. Do not miss this patriotic opportunity.
Fifth. IF you are to join the PBA or any other league, read your contracts very well. Be sure there is no exclusivity clause that will prohibit you from playing in other Asian/Australian leagues. Better still, provide a clause that will allow you to play abroad during times that you are not playing here in an official tournament.
Sixth. in your contract whether here or abroad, make sure that there are no potestative clauses that will leave the operation of the contract absolutely dependent upon the will of the company you are playing in or of the PBA. Our Supreme Court has voided such a provision with respect to a coach already, and there is no reason why the same clause cannot be invalidated when it concerns the players.
Seventh, do not sign any contract with a non-compete clause. This is a clause that prohibits you from playing with any other team for a period of time after you disengage from you present team. That will be prejudicial to your interest and that of your family as well.
Eight, Know the people with whom you are contracting with and also know league officials whether here or abroad. Entering into a contract also include studying personalities which may have something to do with your contract. Do not enter a contract that is motivated by selfish ends. Factor in the inflexibility or flexibiity and short-sightedness or broad mindedness of officials and contracting parties.
Ninth, remember that playing in another country greatly enhances the reputation of Filipino basketball players as one of the best in the world. Avoid people who seek to destroy, wittingly or unwittingly, this great accolade by their crab-mentality.
Tenth, Continue to trust yourself, remember you are world class and not merely PBA-class.

PS The country wont get remittances from someone like Gutang or Dwight. Those guys are based in America.
Currently, yeah, the PBA is still quite talented, with June Mar, Castro, Japeth, Abueva, Scottie, Marcio, Oftana, Perez, Malonzo, CStand, Pringle. Pogoy's good in the PBA too.

However, most of those guys are 30 or above. When they retire, that's when the quality declines, especially in All-Filipino conferences. Unless the overseas players decide to go back, or top college stars opt to join the PBA, or there are more talented Fil-fors, or the PBA adopts a full-season import policy, the quality will decline.

Well for the PBA to keep top talent. Its really simple. Pay the players more to stay. Easier said than done yes but they should accept that that's where things are headed instead of whatever nonsense they are doing right now.

            • Trade approved

              https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/r...220919-fbfirst

The trade committee tweaked the earlier six-player proposal and instead, added two future second round picks in liue of unrestricted free agent and injured guard Paul Desiderio.

In the approved trade, NLEX dealt promising big man Calvin Oftana and Raoul Soyud to Blackwater for Brandon Ganuelas Rosser and the second round picks.

In return, the Bossing sent Oftana and Soyud to TNT for Rosario and big man Gab Banal.

You cant expect people at the top of the pyramid to care about grassroots especially when caring about grassroots means the top talent of the country wont be in the PBA.

Honestly, the SBP and PBA should collaborate with local scouts and teams, even some schools and barangays to have a solid grassroots program. If ever, sponsor training of kids abroad.

It helps their image, and at the same time, it can help in the development of homegrown prospects.

Ay, eto nga pala. Hahahahahaha. It hurts their self-interest.

But at least if they do care about grassroots, the mid-tier talents can possibly, possibly, match the top PBA talent tier right now. They can still have talented leftovers.

The PBA should still exist for those that fail. Heck Mavs can market the hell out of Kyt Jimenez, I think the PBA can do the same even if top talent arent at home.

A good grassroots program will have top talent in the NBA, D1, G-League, Europe, and NBL, then the next tier will be in Asia, then the rest of the talents in the PBA. That can revive the quality in the PBA if even the leftovers have talent.

                        • The PBA nowadays is but a shadow of what it was once, a competitive and exciting league that was religiously followed by all pinoy basketball fans. The fans packed the playing venues and majority of TV's/radios tuned in whenever the games are on. But now alot of fans only watch it because of a couple or so stacked teams and couldnt careless about the other teams knowing that the corporate teams will always lord it over the indie and farm teams.

Its so depressing to see a once glorious league that every pinoy basketball player dreamt of playing in is reduced to but a back up plan by the best young players we have today as their primary goal is to somehow make it to the B league, KBL or Taiwan leagues. And what is more frustrating is that the people running the league are the root cause of everything wrong with the PBA. They arrogantly belittle fans by choosing to ignore glaring issues putting up dumb excuses and constantly playdown the issues of lopsided trades, sister/farm teams and obvious slary cap violations by the big money teams.

And the latest idiotic stunt Viagras and the old boys did was trying to shackle down young players to the PBA that arent even drafted or let alone contracted by any PBA team by confronting the B league and KBL league officials accusing them of poaching. I mean just how low or ignorant can one be, dont they even realized they are embarassing themselves to their foreign league counterparts? As much as I hate to say it I look forward to the day the PBA will be usurped by another local league as the primier basketball league and eventually fade away to irrelevance.
                          お元気ですか?

I remember Chito Salud saying that his dad wanted to skip international games vs China because the Philippines would be exposed. Worked until it couldn't.

PBA is self-destruct. Greed, anomalies & arrogance by PBA people have degraded the fans interest on the league. PBA has lost his integrity.

Now the league is desperately thinking of ways how to keep its top players from leaving to seek greener pastures in overseas leagues. I say, karma is real. The league is now being haunted by its grave "sins" of the past (well it still continues committing those sins up to now).
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV
