Diba they were founded by disgruntled MICAA team owners who didn't like their players being pulled for international service? I would rather the identified PBA players are pulled right now and joining the FIBA games rather than stopping the PBA for 3 months and making these guys tuneup games where there is no skin in the game. And they are surprised that we get blown out in the World Cup. Many of the key guys will have no recent FIBA experience. Unfortunately the PBA itself is not a training ground. Primarily, I think because of lack of internationally sized players ie tall imports.
Yeah, the PBA has to adjust to be a better training ground for FIBA. The presence of tall imports for only 1/3 of the season is one thing. Tactics and personnel usage as well. Until now, we see too many lineups wherein the 3 is 6'1"-6'2".

Honestly, the only way an internationally-viable lineup and system is gonna win in the PBA is if you stack up on multiple talented internationally-viable players at every position, and use an internationally viable system on offense and defense. Furthermore, that system has to win consistently in order to influence the style of play in the PBA.

you mean like the smart gilas that played in the philippine cup in 2009?

Aldrech Ramos, J. V. Casio, Jason Ballesteros, J. R. Cawaling, Japeth Aguilar, Rabeh Al Hussaini, Andy Mark Barroca, Chris Tiu, R. J. Jazul, Mac Baracael, Dylan Ababou, C. J. Giles

human memory is shit (and this is why you should never trust yours) but iirc this team had been winning its early games against pba teams until yeng's bk whoppers literally whopped them by playing dirty.

imo, the PBA is not a suitable environment to train an NT in its developmental phase. Firstly, the calls are different. Then you have to consider the biased officiating which will favor PBA teams. You don't change the PBA. The PBA changes you.

Yeah, not that suitable to train a developmental NT due to the different play style to FIBA.

That's why for the style of play to change to be a more suitable one for FIBA, it has to start from a PBA team winning consistently. I hope the EASL changes the play style of the teams.

        • Arwind Santos now part of the 10,000 club. Impressive milestone for him since he started playing in the PBA pretty late at age 25.
So who is the next closest to join the 10,000 club?

SMB has the manpower but the eligible ones are getting old. Hypothetically, is there a team in the PBA that's suited for FIBA?

NLEX could be one....For EABL just add to big imports , a Center and PF or wing....In the PBA undesize ang Bigs ng NLEX but Yeng plays Oftana at SF, Trollano at SG and Alas at PG.Not exactly minion ball(Chua and Quinahan at C/PF) and both are non low post player...

NLEX and NorthPort have a lot of 6'3"-6'6" forwards. NLEX has Trollano, Semerad, and Oftana, while NorthPort has Ferrer, Malonzo, and Art dela Cruz. They can switch onto the perimeter quite comfortably. Like sajubeads said, just add big imports for EASL.

It was actually exciting when prime heavy Junemar went up against Jumbotron Josh Smith. Prime heavy Junemar couldn't budge the guy. That was a superheavy weight matchup.

Long championship runs and being relatively healthy helped his case

Domestic abuse is serious. We don't know if it is true. But the allegations are serious.
