I think most of the SMC superstars that preceded Alfrancis are being set aside. Their legacies are not being handled correctly and are whitewashed.
James Yap
Kerby Raymundo
Olsen Racela
Danny I
Danny S
Erik Menk
Jayjay Helterbrand
Dondon Hontiveros
heck, maybe even Marc Pingris
Only Mark Caguioa is being honored only because he stayed long in Ginebra.
We see the organization celebrating more the likes of Arwind, Scottie, Cabagnot, JDV and may reward them more when they eventually retire, than the ones mentioned above.

James Yap was the face of the PF franchise ( and the PBA, together with Mark C) after Alvin Patrimonio retired. There shouldn't be any second-guessing in the SMC camp when he officially retires.

Veterans Abu Tratter and Maverick Ahanmisi will not be able to see action in the Philippine Basketball Association. Well, not unless they change their agencies. According to multiple sources closely monitoring the situation, both players are being represented by an agency not licensed by the league which is stopping their negotiations with their mother team […]
Look at the PBA finally caring about taxes hahaha. That being said it is fair to call an agent that doesn't pay VAT unlicensed.

Here's a piece on why the PBA's not as appealing to top prospects: https://www.espn.ph/basketball/pba/s...ding-alarm-yet
It says that the PBA's still an appealing destination, though.

"Iba 'yung teams sa Japan and the way they treat their players. Professional talaga. Kumpleto sa gamit, sa training staff, everything. 'Yun 'yung kulang sa ibang teams dito. May mga players complaining na professional team na sila pero parang hindi naman professional ang treatment ng ibang mga teams na hindi malaki ang budget."Samahan ng mga Bopol ng Pilipinas

"When Thirdy [Ravena] and Dwight played for Gilas Pilipinas, mas angat na 'yung laro nila," recalled player agent Charlie Dy, chief executive officer of sports and talent firm Virtual Playground. "Iba 'yung may international exposure. We have a lot of very good players, ang kulang lang talaga is international exposure. And I think you'll feel more confident after playing as an import in Japan, kasi iba rin 'yung treatment sa'yo eh."
